Areas of Strength
My classroom management skills and my ability to read students are
my greatest strengths
I feel I am able to really get to know each of my students as a person--
as an individual. I try to get a feel for what
strategies work with each one.
I like my ability to be flexible and
teach in different situations.
Areas that needs
improvement
Incorporating group and social
activities
Keeping my classroom neat and clean
Keep up with grading.
Goals
Work with support staff (literacy coaches,
administrators, etc.) to build relationships and
get guidance.
Take the self-assessments. Rate my skills. Decide
how I can improve
Improve teacher-parent
communication, with a focus on positive
notes home
Stay positive even when things change
Incorporate more technology in the
classroom
Achieving my goals
I will get involved with a network of other professionals, or create
a study group to work with The First-Year Teacher’s Survival Guide. The time I spend
in active discussion will be rewarded when me and
my students are successful.
I will plan how to achieve my goals and stick to that
plan.
I will contact the parents more often, not just for negative behavior, but
positive behaviors
I will be self-disciplined, even though my first year will be
overwhelmingly busyat times. Learning how to be a good teacher will keep me from
being discouragedand overwhelmed.
I will implement more technology activities in my lesson planning
