A Wellpoint system is the oldest practical method of predrainage, and is still one of the most versatile methods, being effective for most types of soil, whether pumping a few gallons per minute (GPM) in fine sandy silts or many thousands of gpm in coarse sands and gravels.

The basic components of a wellpoint system include: a wellpoint pump, header piping, and the wellpoints themselves.

The pump consists of several components that serve three functions: 1) to pump air (create vacuum), 2) to pump wa-ter, and 3) to separate the air from the water. The wellpoint pump is tied into a level header manifold that is conveyed alongside the excavation. The header applies the vacuum to a series of individual wellpoints and conveys the water lifted from the wellpoints to the pump. The wellpoints are, in essence, well-like devices constructed with a screen in-take and usually a filter pack, which draw the water from the ground by the difference in pressure generated at the pump.

WellpointsA deep well is a dewatering device equipped with its own submersible pump. Deep wells can vary from 3 to over 24 in ( 75 to 600mm ) in diameter, and pump from fractions of gallons per minute (GPM) to thousands of gallons per minute. Because they do not act by vacuum methods, deep wells are not limited in effectiveness by depth like wellpoints. They can be installed from 20 ft (6m) deep to hundreds of feet deep.

Deep wells, each with an individual pump, are best suited to homogeneous aquifers that extend well below the bottom of the excavation. In such situations, the wells can be installed to greater depth, the volume pumped by each well is high, and the gradients between wells tend to be flat.

ACTION GWC offers effective and innovative turn-key solutions to groundwater control problems using Deep wells. We offer a comprehensive service from initial design, drilling, supply and installation of pumping equip-ment and operation throughout the project lifecycle.

A pumping test consists of pumping groundwater from a well, usually at a constant rate, and measuring water levels in the pumped well and any nearby wells (observation wells) or surface water bodies during and after pumping. The goal of a pumping test, as in any aquifer test, is to estimate hydraulic properties of an aquifer system. It is a practical, reliable method of estimating well performance, well yield, the zone of influence of the well and aquifer characteristics (i.e., the aquifer’s ability to store and transmit water, aquifer extent, presence of boundary conditions and possible hydraulic connection to surface water).

ACTION International services use the latest technologies to give you the best available solution for managing, interpreting and presenting your pumping testing data. A team of highly trained and certified Geologists, Civil Engineers and Hydrologists conducts geologic investigation to obtain reliable information through the different methods e.g., single well test, multi well test, slug test, or large scale pumping test.

Pumping Tests and InstrumentationGround water Models predict the ground and water by numerical simulation. They are useful because the ground flow in the field cannot be observed directly. System per-formance can be validated by transfering field data into single framework to easily identify information’s gaps, and predict the behavior of ground water flow system.

ACTION international has a certified engineering team that can manage all of the civil, geological and hydro geological aspects and works of the future development on site, and to assess ground water systems to examine all the aspects through 2D & 3D conceptual model, and to provide the best possible cost effective and environmen-tal friendly design using state-of-the-art designing and engineering tools and techniques. Action International can provide a multiple output model for different field related to,

Dewatering and underground water control process. Flow and contaminant transport. Water head fluctuation, general hydrogeological

modeling and subsurface water movement.

The Palm Cove is an inland waterway constructed by Bel-gian Contractor Jan de Nul. The canal extends to a total length of 4.5 km in a horse shoe shape at the foot of the Palm Jebel Ali. ACTION was engaged by Jan de Nul to propose a global pumping solution for the existing Palm Cove. As part of the brief ACTION was informed that the discharge water from the adjacent developments may be pumped into the canal therefore flexibility of the pump-ing solution must be assured.

PALM COVE JEBEL ALI - DUBAI

Among the landmark projects currently under develop-ment in Dubai, none has been more eye-catching and newsworthy than the Palm Islands, widely stated to be the eighth wonder of the world. The Palm Jumeirah is a man-made island about 5 km in diameter covering an area of 600 hectares. The Vehicular Tunnel, a 1.4 km long subsea tunnel that will connecting the spine of the island to the outer crescent, was constructed using the cut-and-cover method. The tunnel comprises three cells with the outer cells carrying three lanes of traffic and two pedestrian walkways in each direction. The central cell is for services and emergency evacuation.

ACTION international was awarded the Ground Water Control package responsible for the design, installation and operation of all ground water control works required for the duration of the construction works on site. The vast scope of work included the design, engineering and pack-age management of the site-wide dewatering require-ment.

The project is located at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The con-struction works were carried out by Taisei Corporation for the Southern Tunnel Project in Yas Island. The scope involved the removal of approximately 1,336,276 m3 of trapped water from the cofferdam in a period of 26 days.
