Solange was one of several dozen patients I metwhile caroling with friends in a hospital one

Christmas Eve. Each patient was suffering andhoped for a little love and comfort, but youngSolange—in bandages and casts from head to toe—was special. As we sang for her, she began to cry.Soon she was sobbing almost uncontrollably.

“Jesus loves and cares for you,” I reassuredher.

Then Solange explained that she and her fam-ily had been in a car accident. Her father, mother,and sister were all killed. She had lost her family.Solange had been in a coma for three days, but hadsurvived against all odds.

I prayed with her to receive Jesus as her Savior,and gave her two Christmas posters I’d broughtwith me—one with a text on the back aboutHeaven, and the other with a text about Jesus andHis great personal love for each of us. I also prayedfor her healing and promised to visit her again.

“Joanna,” she said, “my heart is touched be-cause you are here, because you are concerned forme, a total stranger, and because you would spendyour Christmas Eve with me.”

Solange remained in the hospital for threemore months, and I visited her as often as I could.Each time I took her one of The Family’s inspira-tional cassette tapes such as Fear Not or How to Win,or read to her from the Bible to encourage her andstrengthen her faith. By the time Solange was re-leased from the hospital, the miracle that began inher life on Christmas Eve was complete; she washappy, whole, and recovering from her emotionaltrauma.

Celebrations around the world! Happy holidays!Festivities! It is a time for giving, a time for gifts!

And yet, what is this I see? I see people searching forlove. I see people without any true Christmas gifts.

I see people everywhere, running here and runningthere, desperately looking for some little ray of hope, alittle love, a little mercy, a little relief, some kind of salvation.And amidst all this, I couldn’t help but notice you sittingthere, wondering, “Does anybody really care?” Well, yes! Icare! And I love you!

I’ve had My eye on you for a long time now. I’vealways loved you, and I always will. In fact, I care foryou so dearly that I come with special gifts straight fromMy heart to yours. You won’t find these gifts in any shopor mall. They cannot be sold or bought for a price, andyet they are priceless and rare. Those who possess themare most richly blessed.

Love, joy, peace—these are My special gifts foryou! I love you with a love that is perfect and withoutend. I don’t look at your imperfections, mistakes andsins, and then get upset and stop loving you. No, I loveyou in spite of all these things! I love you for who youreally are, and for what you can be.

I can’t promise you will never have heartaches,disappointments or worries as you walk down the roadof l ife. But I can promise that I’ l l give youencouragement, instruction, guidance, wisdom, and thestrength you need to come through. I promise to neverleave your side. Together we’ll survive any difficulty,overcome any weakness, hurdle any obstacle. My love ispower — power to do and power to be.

I know, I love, and I care for you, as if you werethe only one in the world. That’s the reason I came toEarth on Christmas day — to give My great love to you.

I want you to have abundant love in your life. I wantyou to be free from sorrow.

You may ask, “In these modern times so grimand bleak, who could possibly care so much for me?In these days when so many people’s love has growncold, who can I really trust? Where do I look? Whodo I believe? This sounds so good, but is it a sham?How could anyone have so great a love, and gifts, noless, and all for free?”

Well, all I ask is that you give Me a chance. TryMe and see. Just hold out your hand, and let Me placeMy gifts of love there. Don’t worry, simply receive,and in the end, you will see just how happy you’ll be.

Come talk to Me, anywhere, any time, any place,any way you prefer. Talk to Me out loud, or whispersoftly if you like. Speak to Me in words, or just sendMe your thoughts, signaling Me from your heart inthe rush of the day or the stillness of the night. Anyway you feel comfortable is fine with Me. You can tellMe anything you want, and I will understand. I’m herefor you, with a listening ear, sympathy andunderstanding.

All you have to do is say yes. Just open yourheart, reach out and receive. Call on Me and I’ll cometo your aid with My free gifts, My Christmas gifts foryou. Just say, “I take You, Jesus. I want all Your gifts,and a life that is full and free. Give me Your gifts oflove, joy and peace. Show me the way. Show me howto live, and how to act along my way.” It’s just thatsimple. I’ll do the rest.

Please don’t forget. Don’t wait too long. I havewonderful things in store for you, if you’ll give Me achance.

And when your life on earth is done, I’ll bringyou home with Me — home to My country, Heaven,where there is no pain, no sorrow, confusion or war.Here there is no fear, no hatred, no greed or strife,only My free, abundant gifts of love, and much, muchmore. All you have to do is say yes and accept them.I’ll be waiting.

or some people, Christmas is a special timefor celebrating Jesus’ birth, giving and re-

ceiving gifts, and spending time with familyand close friends. But Christmas is a time notonly to enjoy these blessings ourselves. It isalso the greatest opportunity of the year to tellthe world about our precious Savior. It is anoccasion when people desire to hear moreabout the meaning of Christmas and the spiri-tual significance of this day that much of theworld celebrates. Even in cultures that don’tinclude Christmas, people are eager to learnthe true meaning of it.

We have a chance to give the very bestgifts this Christmas, not only to the ones weknow best and hold dear, but also to neigh-bors and strangers who share our world. Thereare those around us whose hearts are weary,who cry out for a comforter; those whose livesare sin-sick and sorrowful, who yearn for aSavior. They seek a rescuer; they weep insidefor a deliverer. They are overwhelmed by fearand uncertainty, filled with despair andhopelessness, laden with burdens of bitternessand guilt, imprisoned in emptiness, plagued bypain and discouragement, and beset by prob-lems too big for them to solve. Many have nogoals, no meaning in their lives.

Jesus loves them and wants to take themin His arms. Though He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving He must have yourhelp! For you are His eyes that can see their

need and love them, His ears that canhear and respond to their cry, His voicethat can comfort them, His tears that canmove them, His arms that can embracethem.

Will you do your best to help them?You can make a difference this Christ-mas for somebody. Even the humblestattempt to share the little you may havewill shine as a very bright light insomeone’s life. Your love will shine evenbrighter this year because the world hasgotten darker, and your little “candle” willbe seen and reflected in the lives of manyas a ray of hope and faith to penetratedespair and fear.

Reach out to others. Tell them howJesus came to earth to love them, howHe died to save them, and how He roseagain to deliver them into a wonderfulnew world that they can experience rightnow on earth and also enjoy forever inHeaven. Proclaim that we celebrate thebirthday of a living Savior, not a deadhero—a living Savior, who was born onearth that He might die in order to riseagain to rescue us from the evil kingdomof sin and death and fear and loneliness.

Let’s not stop with Christmas! Let’skeep sharing and giving and loving just asmuch throughout the year to come. Let’smake each day a celebration of Jesus’ birth,His death, and His resurrection that prom-ises new life for all! �����

Be Jesus’ hands.

Be His feet.

Be His eyes.

Be His lips.
