ACROSPORT

• Acrosport is included in the International Federation of Acrobatic Sports (IFSA), founded in 1973. Since 1999, this sport has been part of the International Gymnastics Federation.

Definition• Acrosport is a form of choreographed acrobatics

involving 3 basic elements:• Making shapes or human pyramids• Strength, flexibility and balance• Parts of dance and gymnastics, jumps and pirouettes• This is an acrobatic sport performed in groups. A

combination of jumps and human pyramids are used. The body is used differently for each position.

• The stronger partner is the lifter (“portor”) and this person will lift the smaller, lighter partner (“ágil”).

Safety

• For the Lifter( “portor”): correct position (a straight back and spine…)

• For the person being lifted (“ágil”): being stable at all times. They must not move until the lifter is completely stable. Team work is very important, especially the helpers who support the person being lifted. The supporters mustn’t force any positions.

• Lifter Positions:As well as these basic positions, the lifter can also use the ones seen in class and the ones shown in the diagrams below:
