This tool is intended to provide a reference for acronyms and abbreviations commonly used within Atlantic. It is not intended to provide definitions. The list also identifies the Atlantic format to be used for acronyms that are used in varying formats throughout the

industry (eg. Tbtu vs. TBtu vs. TBTU)

alngrsn1: This is a provision whereby both spouse/ dependants are covered under each other's health plan. In such cases where spouse submit a claim to his/her insurers, they would pay the benefits first, this is called a primary plan. The insurers of the other spouse will then use that plan to make up the difference up to the total reasonable expenses incurred, that is, the secondary plan. Without this provision, no plan would pay more than it would have paid.
