    safety,werecommendthevisible,militarystyleblankringattachment(BFIPart#RAY-008).

    Ifyourrearmstopsringwithaliveroundinthechamberofahotbarrel(amisre),REMOVE

    THE ROUND FAST!However,ifyoucannotremoveitwithin10seconds,removemagazineand

    wait15minuteswith the Firearm pointing in a SAFE DIRECTION!Thiswayyouwontbehurt

    byapossibleroundcooking-o(i.e.therounddetonatingjustfromtheheatofthebarrel).

    Keepyourfaceawayfromtheejectionportwhileclearingahotchamber.

    Ifyourboltfailstounlock,andyoutrytofreeitbytappingthebuttstockonthegroundwhilepullingonthecharginghandle,keep yourself clear of the Muzzle and the Firearm pointed down range.

    Ifthereiswaterinthebarrel,donotretherie.IT COULD MALFUNCTION CAUSINGPROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.

    Pullthecharginghandletothereartobreakthesealtoensurethewaterwillrunofrom

    thechamberthroughtheejectionportarea.

    Ifanoticeabledierenceinsoundorrecoilisexperienced,STOP FIRING!Eitherconditioncouldindicateanincompletepowderburnand/orabulletorotherobstructionstuckinthebore.

    TaketheFirearmtoaqualifiedgunsmithandhaveobstructionsremoved.

    NOTE:WiththeBoltCarrierAssemblylockedtotherear,orinitsforwardposition,iftheFirearmis

    droppedorjarredwithaloadedmagazineinplace,aliveroundcouldbechambered.

    TheACRBarrelsarecoldhammerforgedandholdthetightesttoleranceallowed.Theyarerifledwitheithera

    1turnin7forheaviergrainweightbulletsor1turnin9forlighterbulletswitharighthandtwist6landsand

    grooves.

    TheACRisoperatedbyaregulated,short-strokeGasPistonSystemwhicheliminateshotgasfrombeingin-

    troducedintotheUpperandLowerReceivers.TheRegulatorcanbesetforUnsuppressedorSuppressedfire.

    TheACRisamulti-caliberplatformandiscapableoftransitioningtoarangeofcaliberssimplybyswappingtheBarrelAssemblyandBolt,usingtheappropriateMagazine.Somecalibersmayrequireanalternatelower

    toacceptdifferentsizedMagazines.

    AllACRUpperandLowerReceiversareeasilyopenedforcleaningandinspection.

    TheUpperReceiverismadeofextrudedAluminumandtheLowerReceiverismadeofaproprietary

    compositepolymer.

    ALWAYS FOLLOW THE RULES OF SAFE FIREARM HANDLING. First,assumetherearmyouarehandlingisloaded,andthenproceed-accordingtothefollowing

    steps-toCLEAR YOUR FIREARM. . .

    1.PointFirearminaSAFE DIRECTION!PlaceSafetySelectorLeveronSAFE.

    NOTE: If the Firearm is not cocked, the SafetySelector Lever cannot be pointed toward SAFE.

    2.PressMagazineReleaseButtonandpullMagazine

    downtoremove.

    3.TolockBoltopen,pullChargingHandlerearward.PressupwardontheBoltCatchandallowBolttomoveforwarduntilitengagestheBoltCatch.Ifyouhaventbefore,nowplaceSafetySelectorLeveronSAFE.

    SafetySelectorLeveronSAFE.

    4.VisuallyandphysicallycheckthattheChamberisclear.

    UNLOAD FIREARM - REMOVE MAGAZINE - CHECK CHAMBER1.RemoveMagazineifinstalled.PullChargingHandleassemblytorear.CheckthatChamberis

    clear.LettheBoltandBoltCarrierclose.DonotpullTrigger.LeaveHammerincockedposition.

    WARNING! IfFirearmfailsanyofthefollowingtests,continueduseoftheFirearmcouldcausea

    malfunctioncausingpersonalinjury,propertydamageordeath.

    2.PlaceSelectorLeverinSAFEposition,pointrieinasafedirection,

    andpulltheTrigger.THE HAMMER SHOULD NOT FALL.

    3.PlaceSelectorLeverinFIREposition.PulltheTrigger.

    THE HAMMER SHOULD FALL.

    NOTE:Forpurposesofthefollowingcheck,SLOWisdened

    asonefourthtoonehalfthenormalrateoftriggerrelease.

    4.HoldTriggertotherear,pullChargingHandletotherearandreleaseChargingHandle.Then

    releasepressureontheTriggerwithaslow,smoothmotion,withouthesitationsorstops,until

    theTriggerisfullyforward.

    AN AUDIBLE CLICK SHOULD BE HEARD - THE HAMMER SHOULD NOT FALL.

    5.RepeattheFIREpositiontestFIVE TIMES.TheFirearmmust

    notmalfunctionduringanyofthesevetests.Pullthe

    ChargingHandletotherearonelasttimeandreleaseforward.

    6.PlacetheSelectorLeverinSAFEposition.PulltheTrigger.

    THE HAMMER SHOULD NOT FALL.

    IftheFirearmmalfunctionsduringanyofthesefivetests,havetheFirearmcheckedbyaqualifiedgunsmith.8

    PREPARING TO FIRE - LOADING A MAGAZINE

    1.Useonlyquality5.56mm/223RemingtonAmmunitioninyourFirearm

    (or6.8mmRemingtonSPCifapplicable).ExamineeachCartridge-particularlyaroundtheprimer.Lookfordents,scratches,andothersignsofdamage.

    DO NOT LOAD DAMAGED AMMUNITION!

    2.WiththeMagazinefacingforward,asshownintheillustration,placeaRoundbetweentheFeedLipsoftheMagazinewiththeBulletTipforward.PushtheRounddownuntil

    itisheldbytheMagazineFeedLips.

    3.Ifnecessary,givetheRoundaslightpushbackwardtoseatitagainsttheinsideback

    edgeoftheMagazineFeedLips.PlacenextRoundontopofthepreviousRoundand

    repeatstepsuntildesirednumberofRoundsareloadedintoMagazine.

    CAUTION! SafeFirearmsHandlingdictatesthatyouONLY LOAD LIVE AMMUNITION

    INTO YOUR RIFLE WHEN YOU ARE ABOUT TO SHOOT.

    NOTE:AfterthelastRoundisred,theBoltCarrierwilllockintherearposition.YoucanthenpushtheMagazineReleaseButtontodropouttheemptymagazine,insertafreshMagazine,releasetheBoltCatch,andanewRoundwillbeautomaticallychamberedin

    preparationforthenextringsequence.

    WARNING IF A NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE IN SOUND OR RECOIL IS EXPERIENCED,

    STOP FIRING AND IMMEDIATELY CHECK THE FIREARM FOR OBSTRUCTIONS. AN OBSTRUC-TION MAY CAUSE A MALFUNCTION CAUSING PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.

    Eitherconditioncouldindicateanincompletepowderburnand/orabulletstuckinthebore.RetracttheBoltslowlyandremovetheredcartridgecase.CleartheFirearmandcheckforunburnedpowdergrainsintheReceiverorBore,andforaBulletstuckintheBore(SeePage17).Cleanoutanyunburnedpowderbeforeresumingring.IfaBulletisstuckintheBore,donotattempttoremoveit.TaketheFirearmtoaqualiedGunsmith.

    CONDITION:FirearmisnowLoaded,aRoundischambered,andSafetySelectorshouldbeonSAFE.

    ToFIREtheFirearminSEMI-AUTOMATIC MODE(oneRoundredwitheachpulloftheTrigger),movetheSafetySelectorLeverfromSAFEtoFIRE.

    REMEDIAL ACTIONS

    1.IfyourFirearmstillfailstoreafterperforming

    ImmediateActionSteps1through5onpreviouspage,

    checkagainforajammedcartridgecase.

    2.Ifacartridgecaseisinthechamber,openthereceivers,removetheboltcarrier,andtrytotapout

    thecasewithacleaningrod.

    IF FIREARM STILL FAILS TO FIRE CHECK THE TROUBLESHOOTING SECTION IN

    THIS MANUAL OR TAKE THE FIREARM TO A QUALIFIED GUNSMITH.

    WARNING: IF YOUR FIREARM STOPS FIRING WITH A LIVE

    ROUND IN THE CHAMBER OF A HOT BARREL, REMOVE

    THE ROUND IMMEDIATELY. However,ifyoucannot

    removeitwithin10seconds,removetheMagazineandwait15minuteswiththeFirearmpointinginasafedirection

    (alwayscheckthattheSAFEdirectionremainssafe

    duringthattime).Thiswayyouandthosearoundyouwontgethurtbythepossibilityofaroundcookingo.

    4.Visuallyinspectand/orinsertaCleaningRodintotheBoretoensurethereisnotaBulletstuckintheBore.

    DO NOT APPLY THE IMMEDIATE ACTIONS DESCRIBED ON PREVIOUS PAGES.IF A BULLET IS STUCK IN THE BARREL OF THE FIREARM, DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE IT.TAKE THE FIREARM TO A QUALIFIED GUNSMITH.

    ZeroingtheRearSight(seeZeroingYourSightsonnextpage).OncetheRearSightisZeroed,theFrontSightPostshouldnotbemoved.

    REAR BACK UP SIGHT

    TheRearBackUpSightfeaturestwoaperturesandwhennotusedcanbe

    foldeddownat.Toreturntotheuppositionpresseitherthesidetabs.

    NORMAL RANGE APERTURE:ThesmallerApertureisthedefaultsettingandisusedformostringsituations,optimizedfor100-300meters.

    SHORT RANGE APERTURE:RotatetheNormalRangeApertureforwardanddowntorevealtheShortRangeAperture.Thisapertureisusedforrangesof0-100meters,allowingalarger

    eldofview.

    WhennotinusetheFrontandRearSightscanbefoldeddownat.Toreturnelevatesightspressdowneitherthesidetabsordownontheforwardportionofeithersighttoengagethespringloadedrelease.Toremovethesights,loosenandremovetheLockingBoltandguidethesightsforwardotheendoftheMIL-STD-1913PicatinnyTopRail.

    FollowthestepsbelowtoestablishaZeroat25meters.YourMBUSTypeRieSightswillthenbesetwitha300-meterbattlesightzero.Withthisprocedure,onlythe

    FrontSightPostandRearSightWindageKnobareadjustedsothatyoucanhityour

    PointofAimat300meters.

    25 METER ZEROING PROCEDURES

    1.Placeanappropriate25MeterPaperSightingTarget25metersdownrangeandfollow

    thestepsbelowtoestablishabattlesightzero.DonotmovetheFrontSightPostat

    thistime.ItwassetatthefactoryandshouldbeveryclosetoZero.

    2.Thesmaller(unmarked)RearSightApertureshouldbeintheUPposition.Center

    theRearSightbyturningtheWindageKnobleftorright.Thiscreateswhatiscalled

    MechanicalZeroWindage.

    3.Checkthatyoureldofreisclear,andthatitissafetoshoot.Carefullyaimandre

    agroupofthreeshotsatthecenterofthetargetbullseye.

    AFTER FIRING YOUR FIREARM, cleanitassoonaspossibletomakethejobeasierandtoavoidallowingthedevelopmentofanycorrosion.When your Firearm has not been redyoushouldcleanitatleastonceortwiceayearifyou

    liveinatemperateclimate,orasoftenasonceaweekinatropicalclimate.If you get your Firearm wet, cleanitassoonaspossibletoavoidtheonsetofcorrosionorrust.

    UseahighqualityFirearmcleaningkitthatincludesacleaningrod;swabholder;cottonannelborepatches;pipecleaners;asmalltoothbrush;brasswirebristleboreandchamberbrushesandaCleaner/Lubricant/Preservative(CLPinArmyterminology).

    After you have disassembled the Firearm, thoroughly clean, inspect and lubricate all

    parts according to the techniques described on following pages.

    CLEANING THE BORE: TheboreofyourACRriehasLandsandGroovescalledriing.RiingmakesthebulletspinveryfastasitmovesdowntheBoreanddownrange.Itisdiculttopushanew,stiBoreBrushthroughtheBore.Youwillnditmucheasier,andmoreeective,topull your Bore Brushthrough the Bore.Also,becausethebrushwillcleanbetterifthebristlesfollowthegrooves(thisiscalledtracking),youwanttheBoreBrushtobeallowedtoturnasyoupullitthrough.

    To make cleaning the Bore easier, you may remove the barrel from theUpper and replace once the Bore and Chamber are cleaned. The zero ofthe barrel will not be lost.

    ALWAYS CLEAN FROM THE CHAMBER TOWARD THE MUZZLE.Followthesesteps:

    1.AttachthreeRodSectionstogetherbutleaveeachoneabouttwoturnsshortofbeingtight.AttachthePatchHolderbutleaveittwoturnsshortoftightalso.

    2.PointMuzzledown.HoldtheUpperReceiverorBarrelAssemblyinonehandwhileinsertingtheendoftheRodwithPatchHolderattachedintotheChamber.GuidetheRodcarefullythroughtheBore.

    CAUTION:DonotlettheRodoritsthreadedendscratchtheLiningoftheBoreorFiringChamber.About2-3inchesoftheRodshouldprotrudeoutoftheMuzzle.

    3.AttachtheHandleSectionoftheCleaningRodtotheendoftheRodstickingoutoftheMuzzle,andswabouttheBorewithapatchmoistenedwithCLP.
