    Life Reflections

    Felice Mariea Yates-Washington

On May 26,1976, a beautiful baby girl was born named Felice Mariea Yates. She loved her mother, Jeanette Yates who proceeded her in death and her father Larry Wilkerson of Flora, MS. She was elated when her parents gave her a sister; Melanie Marie Yates-Brown (Dameon Brown). Felice was the best big sister and stepped in as a mother to Melanie after their mother’s death. Melanie and Felice shared everything and had a bond that was heaven sent.

Felice attended East Flora Elementary and Jr High School and graduated from Madison Central High School in 1994. She expressed how great her school memories were growing up and that she started dating the love of her life, Broderick Demond Washington Sr. Their love was a testament and example of true Black Love. Broderick and Felice attended Woodman Hill Missionary Baptist Church and entered their marriage on September 29, 2000. Through this union she gained a brother, Maurice Washington (Dalsheree Washington) and two nieces Adrian Washington and Ava Washington. She poured her heart and love into her family. Her legacy will live on through her son; Broderick Washington Jr., daughter; Jaida Dornae Washington, stepdaughter; Myia Ransburg, sister, Allison Wilkerson, and grandchildren Karter Williams and Kelise Arie Brown.

Felice started her journey has a hairstylist in her teenage years; she became a licensed Cosmetologist in 2001. This talent allowed her to become an entrepreneur for more than half of her life. She loved to cook for her family and friends and was known for her specialty, Chicken Tetrazzini! She was a great at cooking and decorating; her family and friend would call her often for recipes and décor ideas. She danced like no one was watching and enjoyed life to the fullest. In her final days she expressed her happiness and that she led a life full of love, peace, and joy; she also encouraged others to do the same. She will be remembered for her kind heart and welcoming spirit. She leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, and friends that will miss her dearly.

I really cannot explain the pain I feel. Life without you? Seems so unreal.

I don’t know how I’ll go on. But for you, I’ll try to be strong.

I hope I can find my way. I know you’d want me to keep the faith.

I’ll never forget the times we shared. I just really wish there was more to spare.

You were bravest person I knew I’m steadily asking God, why you?

I have to let you get your rest Forever the B-E-S-T, the best.

I can’t explain how much I love you mommy,

    Your beautiful daughter, Jaida Dornae

“You and me girl, go a long way back and I’m so proud.” Felice, you were made especially for me and I thank God for every memory we made together. I love you baby and I know God is the only man that could take you away from us. You are simply, the

best the best the B-E-S-T the best. P.S. Rest in Peace baby. I love my lil wife!

    Your Substantial Husband, Broderick #loveisabeautifulthing

“Hey Sis! What y’all doing?” This was the greeting I heard 5-10 times a day, we were so close, words cannot explain it! I am so heart broken, I have never felt this kind of pain in my life, I am so sad that I can’t call you and ask your opinion on every little detail on every little thing. YOU SPOILED me with your love sis!! That love felt so GOOD! It’s been a long long week without you, but I know that GOD is real because you thought me that and each day I feel just an ounce of strength coming into my body; I KNOW that is GOD and I am so GLAD you raised me to know that. This is the hardest time in my life, at times I feel like I am losing it; but you know I am the dramatic sister lol! I will bounce back and continue to be the strong loving black woman you taught me to be.

Though I'm missing you, I'll find a way to get through living without you Cause you were my sister, my strength, and my pride

Only God may know why, still I will get by. Love your Lil Sis,

    Melanie Marie Yates Brown

Felice was a great daughter and big sister. She always made sure she took care of us and everyone around her. She lit up a room just by walking in. She was a constant joy in every single person’s life she met. She made her home feel like it was yours too. She was just an all-around caring person. She always made sure everyone had a great time and was doing okay because she was just that amazing. It won’t be the same without her, but we all know she’s going to be watching over us and caring from above.

    Love Daddy and Allison

    Felice,

we little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.

It really broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; For a very large part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

You left us sweet, peaceful memories, our love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing will ever be the same; But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

    Love always,

    Your Yates Family

    Mom,

Momma I really miss you. I just do not understand why this is God’s plan. You always did everything in your power to make everyone around you happy and full of joy. Mom you were so beautiful, and you were like no other. I just wish I could spend more time with you, but I really do thank God for the time he gave me with you.

    Your Wonderful Son,

    B.J.
