Acidex Compound Alginate Oral Suspension provides relief from heartburn with acid indigestion. Before you take Acidex: Take special care if you are: allergic to any of the ingredients of Acidex on a sodium restricted diet: 10ml of Acidex contains about 6 mmoles of sodium. Tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines, especially: ACE inhibitors, analgesics, antibiotics, antiepileptics, antifungals, antimalarials, antipsychotics, bisphosphonates, penicillamine. Acidex may be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Acidex contains ethyl parahydroxybenzoate (E214), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216) and butyl parahydroxybenzoate which may cause an allergic reaction (possibly delayed). How to take Acidex: To be taken by mouth, after meals and at bedtime. Shake bottle well before use. Leave 1 - 2 hours between taking Acidex and other medicines. The usual dose is: Adults and children over 12 years: 2 to 4 (5ml) spoonfuls. Children 6 to 12 years: 1 to 2 (5ml) spoonfuls. Children under 6 years: Not recommended. If you take more Acidex than you should: Contact your doctor or pharmacist. Side effects are occasional and may include constipation, flatulence, stomach cramps and belching. Reporting of side effects: If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme at www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard. By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine. Storing Acidex: Keep out of the sight and reach of children. Do not store above 25˚C. Do not refrigerate. Each 5 ml of Acidex contains: 133.5mg Sodium Bicarbonate, 250mg Sodium Alginate, 80mg Calcium Carbonate. It also contains carbomer, sodium hydroxide, saccharin sodium, ethyl parahydroxybenzoate (E214), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), butyl parahydroxybenzoate, isopropyl alcohol, erythrosine colour (E127), star anise oil, purified water.
