Client Background:
White Hen Pantry has been in business for 35 years. The company started out as a small convenience store concept that wanted to compete with the industry giants. It has grown to just under 300 locations and is still expanding. White Hen Pantry diligently researches the retail market for consumer trends and profiles. As a result, its stores are more customer-friendly and quality-minded than most. White Hen Pantry’s current POS system was implemented in 1999 running off Windows 98 with a speed of 300mhz. They seem to be fairly pleased with their system’s speed and is also looking forward to better key functions with special indications with returns and void items.
White Hen Pantry will grow for years to come. To help in preparing for future expansions and increase in customers, White Hen will need to be well equipped. They have then hired us, Ace Consultants, to support them on selecting a sturdier POS system for their chain. After much effort from our team we have found some POS systems that are quite suitable for White Hen Pantry.

AccuPos – offers numerous of tools and equipments such as hand-held scanner, touch-screen, and thermal receipt printer.
Disadvantages• Inflexible inventory control, which limits clients to
use only the program that are offered by Accupos.
Catapult –magnificent hardware integration, promises that it will work seamlessly with other name brands POS terminals and peripherals. They are the first POS product to fully embrace OPOS (OLE Point of Sale) and retail interface standard for Microsoft Windows.

implement other management programs

Clever Computing – offer reliable inventory control features including electronic data interchange (EDI), audit trail on every item, and auto generated min/max levels.
Disadvantages• more suitable for online stores or companies that have locations
worldwide. POS32 -- features like Quick Checkout, Balancing and Reconciliation and
Check Verification which is very helpful for cashier to handle checkout processing.
Disadvantages• more suitable for clothing and merchandise stores and high level of
management.
Datasym- provides a programmable port interface, which it allows for installation of other popular peripherals such as scanners and scales
Disadvantages• features are very general and can be found in other POS. Most of the
features that provides are not required to operates a retail store.

Their interface is powered by Catapults exclusive Function Generator which helps facilitate unlimited tenders, tax, tables, discounts, preset item keys, and a variety of other functions tailored to fit store operations.
Catapult runs off a 32-bit Windows 2000/XP solution which gives users fast access. Catapult can also be tailored to work within almost any retail operation, they are ready for challenges that a modern retail environment demands. They carry a very wide variety of features with their POS system in which many are useful to our client, White Hen Pantry.
We strongly recommend Catapult to our client because of their flexibility for growing companies and also the many key features that are within their package. Catapult has ranked highest out of the business requirements that we have set standards for. And is at satisfactory level for vendor and technical criterias.
