2. The Army College of Dental Sciences is Private,Un-Aided & Non-MinorityEducational Institution.

COURSE AND SEATS

1. Army College of Dental Sciences, Secunderabad has been established under the aegis of

Army Welfare Education Society as a Centre of Excellence for Dental Education. The College

aims at imparting a high standard of dental education coupled with the development of good

moral character for the children of regular Army personnel/regular Army pensioners and war

widows. Army College of Dental Sciences, Secunderabad is affiliated to Dr NTR University of

Health Sciences, Vijayawada (A.P). The College has been Recognized by the Dental Council of

India and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare vide their Gazette No 23 dated 9 Jun 2007 for an

intake of 40.

3. The College offers the course leading to award of degree of 'Bachelor of Dental Surgery'by

Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The duration of the course is

four years of active study plus twelve months of training of rotatory internship. PG courses in the

departments of Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry, Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics, Oral

& Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, Conservative Dentistry &

Endodontics and Periodontology have commenced.

CAMPUS AND HOSTEL

4. The campus is self-contained with hostel, sports fields and other amenities. It is well

connected by city Bus Service (211M from Secunderabad Station) with Secunderabad and

Hyderabad cities, Railway Stations and Airport. Separate hostels have been constructed for boys

and girls and experienced wardens ensure efficient functioning. The students will be provided with

all facilities in the hostel to make them feel `at home' so that they can focus on academics.

Spacious dining halls with modern cooking amenities have been provided to ensure hygienic food

to the students. Hostel stay is compulsory for all students and students are not permitted to stay

outside under own arrangements. Lodging and messing expense will be borne by the students.

LIBRARY

5. A well-stocked library with technical textbooks, reference books and journals is available for

use by students. Internet and photo copying facilities are available in the Library.

6. (a) Excellent games, sports and health club facilities are available to promote sportsand health activities.

(b) The ACDS campus is self-contained in recreational facilities and amenities such as

Auditorium, Gymnasium and Cafeteria.

(c) MI Room facilities are available on the campus under a trained Nurse. Sickstudents are referred to MH Secunderabad whenever required. Dependencycertificates/ECHS card details should be submitted to ACDS by all parents at the timeof admission of their children.

7. Admission to the first year of the B.D.S degree course at the Army College of Dental

Sciences, Secunderabad for 34 seats will be on inter-se merit of the candidates in the CombinedWritten Admission Test (C-WAT) conducted by ACDS for 2014 - 2015. Remaining 06 seats will befilled by Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada .

8. Candidates will be initially granted PROVISIONAL admission and will be considered final onacceptance of eligibility by Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, A.P.

9. The college management reserves its right to deny the admission to any student in the eventthe admission is found to be irregular or violating any rules and/or regulations framed under anystatute or statutes.

10. Eligibility For Admission To AWES Professional Colleges -. The admission to ACDS isfor the children of eligible serving Army Personnel, eligible ex Army personnel and war widows ofthe Army. The children of following categories of Army personnel are eligible and they are requiredto submit the relevant certificate as given against the category applicable to them as proof of their

eligibility for admission to ACDS along with the Application form :-(a) The applicants must fall into one of the following categories : -

(i) Children of serving Army personnel with minimum 10 years continuous servicein the Army (Submit Certificate No 1).

(ii) Children of ex Army personnel granted/awarded regular pension,liberalized family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of theirsuperannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board/invalided medical board.This includes wards of recruits medically boarded and granted disability pension(Submit Certificate No 1).

(iii) Children of ex Army personnel who have taken discharge or released after ten

years of service (Submit Certificate No 1).

(b) Adopted/Step children and children of Remarried Widows(i) Adopted Child of Army personnel if adopted at least five years priorto seeking admission. (Submit Certificate No .2).

(ii) Step Children are eligible provided they are born from a weddingwhere at least one parent belonged to the Army who is other wiseeligible. (Submit Certificate No.2)

(c) Eligibility Criteria in Special Cases

(i) Eligibility Criteria for wards of Ex Army Medical CorpsOfficers/Army Dental Corps Officers presently serving with IndianNavy or Indian Air Force(IN/IAF). Wards of only those ex Army medicalofficers/Army Dental Corps officers presently serving with Indian Navy or Indian

Air Force who have served with the Army for at least 10 years (Submit CertificateNo.3).

(ii) Eligibility Criteria for Children of APS/MNS/TA Personnel (SubmitCertificate No.3)

(aa) Children of APS Personnel classified as ex servicemen asper Govt. of India, Ministry of Defence letter No 9 (52)/88D (Res)

dated 19 Jul 1989.

(ab) Children of those APS personnel who are on deputation andwho have put in 10 years of service in the Army.

(ac) Children of APS personnel, who are directly recruited intoAPS who have completed 10 years of service and of those who as

per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS without reversion toP&T Department after completing their minimum pensionable service of which10 years was in the Army.

(ad) Children of only those members of MNS who have10 yearsservice as regular members of MNS or are in receipt of pensionfrom the Army.

(ae) Children of only those TA Personnel who have completed 10years of embodied service.

Note: - 1) The management reserves the right to include any other eligibility criteria from timeto time in addition to the above.(2) Unrecognized certificates as per Govt of India rules are not valid. The Pre-University certificate issued by Janardhan Rai Nagar, Rajasthan Vidyapeeth(Deemed) University, Rajasthan state is not valid.

11. Physical Fitness. The candidate should be certified by MH/Authorized MedicalAttendant to be in a state of good physical and mental health to pursue the course. A certificate tothis effect as per the enclosed form (Certificate No 4) is required to be submitted by the candidate.

12. Educational Qualifications. No candidate shall be allowed to be admitted to the DentalCurriculum of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) course until he/she has passed qualifyingexamination as under:-

(a) The higher secondary examination or the Indian School Certificate Examinationwhich is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination after a period of 12 yearsstudy, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry & Biology, and(Mathematics or any other elective subjects) with English at a level not less than the corecourse for English as prescribed by the National Council for Educational Research andTraining after the introduction of the 10+2+3 years educational structure as recommendedby the National Committee on Education;

Or

(b) The Intermediate examination in science of an Indian University/Board or otherrecognized examining body with Physics, Chemistry and Biology which shall include apractical test in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject.

Or(c) The pre-professional/pre-medical examination with Physics, Chemistry andBiology, after passing either the higher secondary school examination, or the preuniversity or an equivalent examination. The pre-professional/premedical examinationshall include a practical test in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and also English as acompulsory subject.

Or

(d) The first year of the three years degree course of a recognized university withPhysics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in three subjects provided theexamination is a university examination and candidate has passed 10+2 with English ata level not less than a core course.

Or(e) B.Sc examination of an Indian University, provided that he/she has passed theB.Sc examination with not less than two of the following subjects Physics, Chemistry,Biology (Botany, Zoology) and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifyingexamination with the following subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.

Or

(f) Any other examination which, in scope and standard is found to be equivalent tothe Intermediate science examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics,Chemistry and Biology including practical test in each of these subjects and English.

13. Minimum Aggregate. He/She must have passed in the subjects individually andmust have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology takentogether as one and in the same sitting. Compartmental Pass candidates are not eligiblefor admission.

th14. Candidates who have appeared in the 12 Class or equivalent examination are alsoprovisionally eligible to apply and appear in the Entrance Examination. However, theircandidature will be considered only if they provide documentary evidence of having passed thequalifying examination with the required subjects and percentage of marks at the time ofcounseling or admission.

15. Eligibility.

(i) The candidate should have completed the age of 17 years at the time ofst

admission or will complete this age on 31 December of the year of admission.

(ii) Candidate should have passed the two years Intermediate or equivalent coursethereof, with science subjects Viz; Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany andZoology) securing a minimum of 50% from a recognized Indian Intermediate Board orUniversity. Candidate possessing qualification of a university/Intermediate Boardoutside the State should produce the certificate of equivalence from the Registrar, DrNTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada (A.P).

(iii) BSc (Part I) Examination of an Indian University as laid down by the UniversityGrants Commission. A student who has passed BSc. Examination with one or more ofthe subjects mentioned in (a) i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Biology would be admitted tothe dental course if he/she has passed the remaining subjects in the IntermediateExamination.

(iv) Should have secured not less than 50% of marks on the aggregate of the abovesubjects in the qualifying examination and competitive exam.

(v) The candidate should be medically fit.

16. Ensuring Eligibility. Ensuring that a candidate fulfills all conditions/qualifications foreligibility in the BDS Course is the responsibility of the candidate. The eligibility of the candidatewill be verified by the ACDS at the time of admission and also later during the scrutiny of papersby the University. If a candidate is found to be ineligible at any stage during the entire process,the College reserves the right to cancel his/her candidature.

18. Proof of Gallantry Award. A certified photocopy of the Part II order/Gazette notificationconfirming the award/Copy of Certificate, should be attached with the application for claimingthe weightage for gallantry awards. For Sena Medal (Gallantry) a certificate has to be obtainedfrom MS-X that the Sena Medal awarded to the Service/Ex-service personnel is for acts ofCourage/Bravery.

NOTE : 1) IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CANDIDATES TO ASCERTAINWHETHER THEY POSSESS THE REQUISITE ELIGIBILITY & QUALIFICATIONS FORADMISSION. HAVING BEEN CALLED FOR WRITTEN TEST DOES NOTNECESSARILY MEAN ACCEPTANCE OF ELIGIBILITY. FINAL ELIGIBILITY FORADMISSION WILL BE DECIDED BY ACDS & Dr N.T.R.UNIVERSITY OF HEALTHSCIENCES, VIJAYAWADA (A.P).

19. The entrance test for ACDS will be held as Combined Written Admission Test(C-WAT). The paper will be of TWO hours duration containing THREE subjects. Students willapply direct to ACDS in application forms provided with the prospectus of the College. Admit cardswill be issued to students by ACDS.

24. Type and Conduct of Exam Paper. The question paper will consist of 100 objectivetype (multiple choice) questions in the following format:-

(a) Botany (Multiple Choice questions 25 Marks)(b) Zoology (Multiple Choice questions 25 Marks)

(c) Physics (Multiple Choice questions 25 Marks)(d) Chemistry (Multiple Choice questions 25 Marks).

25. All answers shall be indicated on a single Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet using HBpencil to darken the circle pertaining to the most appropriate answer. The questions shall begenerally based on the CBSE syllabus for class (10+2). Any over writing, excess marking andfilling of roll numbers in wrong slots is liable to be rejected by computers and names of suchcandidates will not appear in merit list. OMR sheets without proper roll numbers, with overwriting, cuttings and poorly erased pencil marks are rejected by the computing system.

26. Syllabus for the Examination. The general standard of the entrance examinationth th

will be that of 11 and 12 class under the 10+2 scheme/pre-medical/intermediate science or an

equivalent examination of the State Education Board/Indian University.

NOTE :- THE STUDENTS SHALL BRING THEIR OWN PENCILS & BALL PEN

27. Evaluation System. The evaluation of the OMR answer sheets will be donethrough optical scanners and computers. Each correct answer will fetch one mark whereasincorrect answers, multiple answers or doubtful answers will lead to a deduction of 0.25 mark.Since the entire process of evaluation is computerized, candidates are advised to be verycareful in marking their answers on the OMR sheet.

28. Request for Re-evaluation not to be Considered. Since the entire evaluation is

computerized, request for re-evaluation will not be considered under any circumstances.

29. (a) The admission will be strictly on merit ranking, based on marks obtained in C-WAT. Weightage for Gallantry awards as given in para 17 will also be taken intoaccount.

(b) The merit list will be prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained by thecandidates in the entrance test. The decision of ACDS management regarding the

preparation of merit list will be final and no arbitration in this matter will be accepted.

(c) In case of vacant seats due to certain candidates declining to join/not joining ondue date, the vacancy so created will be offered to the candidate next in merit and so on.

(d) Six seats will be filled from merit candidates by Dr NTR University of HealthSciences, Vijayawada (A.P).

30. In the case of candidates securing equal number of marks, their relative merit will bereassessed, inter-se on the basis of the following order of preference:-

(a) A candidate securing more marks in Biology in the entrance test of ACDS.

(b) A candidate securing more aggregate marks (PCB Subjects) in the qualifyingexamination i.e. 10+ 2 or equivalent examination.

(c) Seniority in date of birth.

(d) Further tie, if any, will be as per Dr NTR UHS (A.P) guidelines by considering (i) PositiveMarking of Biology (ii) Negative Marking of Biology.

RELATIVE MERIT IN CASE OF EQUAL MARKS

FILLING UP OF APPLICATION FORM

31. Application Form is enclosed in the envelope. Candidate must affix adequate postage forRegistration charges failing which Admit cards will be dispatched by normal post only. Incomplete orImproperly filled applications are likely to be rejected. Application forms duly completed in allrespects alongwith documents must reach Principal ACDS, Secunderabad within the datesspecified below :-

(a) Without late fee on or before - 15 Mar 2014

(b) With late fee of Rs 300/- in favour - on or before 25 Mar 2014.of ACDS payable at Secunderabad A.P. (enclose DD for Rs 300/-)

32. Application form number must be quoted in all future correspondence. The name on theapplication form should be the same as mentioned in Matriculation or 10+2 certificates.

33. Candidates should fill in the application form very carefully. If the candidate knowinglyfurnishes false information, admission will be cancelled at any stage and fees paid will not berefunded. College is not responsible for rejection of wrongly filled applications/ documents foundmissing. Applications without photographs will not be entertained.

34. Late Receipt and Caution on Courier Service.ACDS will not accept application formsreceived later than 25 Mar 2014. Condoning delay on account of postal strikes/lapses by courierservices will not be done. It has been experienced that courier services are NOT always effective inensuring timely deliveries at ACDS. These must therefore be utilised only at the applicants' own

risk.Note :- Completed application forms should be preferably sent by Registered postwith A/D or speed post as private courier services are not effective in ensuring timelydelivery at ACDS.

NOTE : If there is any change in address after filling the application form, It isthe responsibility of both parents and students to inform ACDS throughpost/ e- mail and to check with ACDS time to time regarding admitcard, results and dates for counseling. ACDS is not responsible for themiscommunication due to the change in address of the candidate.

35. Application forms must be accompanied by the documents indicated below :-

(a) Proof of age as it appears in the mark sheet of SSC/Class 10/ equivalentexamination.(b) Certificate of passing or appearing (10+2) CBSE/equivalent qualifying examination.(c) Mark sheet showing PCB marks obtained in the qualifying examination, in case theapplicant has already passed the same.(d) Address for correspondence (appendix 'A'; Page 30)

(e) GAP Affidavit (as per Appendix 'B; Page 31)(f) Under taking by parents and students (As per Appendix`C') to be produced at the timeof counseling only.

36. Copies of certificates attached to the application form (whether Xerox or typewritten), shouldbe attested by the Principal of the College / Gazetted Officer/ Special Executive Magistrate / HeadMaster of Secondary School or a Staff Member of a College not below the grade of Lecturer.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

37. The Admit Card for the entrance test will be sent to the eligible candidates by RegisteredPost at the address given by them on the application form. Candidate shall affix adequate postageon the envelope of admit card and write their address clearly. All candidates should normallyreceive the Admit Card by 15 Apr 2014. If any candidate fails to receive the Admit Card by the abovedate he/she should enquire from the office of ACDS Secunderabad by giving application No, fullname, address and place of examination as mentioned in the application form. 39. Appearing for Entrance Examination in the Event of Non Receipt of Admit Card. If

admit card is not received by the candidate, he/she should produce the acknowledgement with

passport size photograph at the time of exams in the examination centre. He/she must approach

the OIC Examination Centre (Centre as indicated by him/her in the Application form) with a passport

size photograph similar to the one forwarded with the Application Form and also a valid Identity

card. OIC Examination Centre will be empowered by ACDS to permit the candidate to provisionallyappear for the examination. The details of such candidates will be mentioned by the OIC

Examination Centre in the forwarding letter containing the answer sheets. In case the eligibility of

the candidate is confirmed at ACDS and it is confirmed that he/she was eligible to take the Entrance

Examination, the answer sheet will be accepted for subsequent evaluation and processing of

candidature. The candidate also can download the admit card from ACDS website www.acds.co.in.

40. The acknowledgement card is to be filled up and enclosed with the application form.

Necessary postage must be affixed by the candidate. The card will be sent to the candidates after

receiving the completed application form. The applicant must ensure that the address on the

application form and the acknowledgement card are the address for communication on

which the mail is received by the applicant. Experience shows that the acknowledgement

cards/admit cards/joining instructions are received back at ACDS undelivered with the remark

addressee not traceable. WRITE COMPLETE ADDRESS ON ALL THE THREE DOCUMENTS.

41. ACDS will send the results of first 600 successful candidates to all Command Headquarters

and to the Headquarters conducting admission test. Candidates are advised to get in touch with

appropriate Headquarters on 01 Jun 2014 for results. Successful candidates will also be intimatedby post. The college does not take any responsibility for late receipt or non receipt of the results by

post. The results will also be posted on college Website (www.acds.co.in)

43. If the candidates do not produce above mentioned documents at the time of counselling theircandidature will be cancelled and no representation in this respect will be entertained. Nocandidate will be admitted provisionally/awaiting result of the qualifying examination. If at any pointof time in the process of examination, selection or studies, the documents of the candidate arefound to be false/not authentic or any other discrepancy is observed, thecandidature/selection/admission of the candidate will be cancelled forthwith. 46. Willingness Certificate and Registration Charges. Candidates whose call letters havebeen issued will be required to deposit Rs 10,000/- along with a willingness certificate.

All candidates securing ranks upto 600 in the merit list will have to forward willingness certificateautomatically to enable the college to place them in the appropriate reserve list. The initial depositwill be adjusted against the first installment of fee when the candidate is admitted. The initialdeposit will be paid through bank draft payable in favour of ACDS Secunderabad. ACCIDENTS

51. The College authorities are taking all precautions for proper care of the students. However,the College will not be responsible for any unforeseen accident or death of the students during theirtraining and stay at the College.

DISCIPLINE & SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

52. (a) The discipline and good behavior of the students will be governed by the Universityand AWES regulations framed from time to time. The University empowers the Collegeauthorities to take disciplinary action including rustication of the students found indulging in

any disciplinary act or Ragging. Ragging in any form is banned and ispunishable offence. (Refer Appx D'; Page 38).

(b) In keeping with our rich and diverse Indian Culture, boys & girls are expected tobehave in a mature manner. Although interaction of boys and girls in class rooms isconsidered healthy, during class hours, however walking together as couples and sittingtogether and moving in pairs in isolation in the campus after 1800hrs are not allowed.

Any dispute regarding the terms and conditions of the admission, sale of prospectus,conduct of admission, course, fees, examination, promotion, attendance, pass marks, evaluationof papers etc., concerning the Army College of Dental Sciences, Secunderabad shall be subject tothe jurisdiction of the courts situated at Ranga Reddy District, Andhra Pradesh only.

57. Any student aggrieved by any order or orders passed by any authority or authorities of ArmyCollege of Dental Sciences shall be entitled to prefer an appeal before the Managing Committee

represented by the Member Secretary and Registrar within a period of 30 days from the date of any

such order and the Member Secretary shall place the appeal before the Managing Committee for

passing appropriate orders. The Managing Committee presided over by the Chairman may

provide the right of hearing to the student or the parent and pass appropriate orders in the form of

resolution and communicate the decision of the Managing Committee/ Appellate Authority. Unless

and until the remedy of appeal is availed by the student/parent, the arbitration clause cannot be

invoked. The Appellate Authority or Managing Committee shall have the jurisdiction to entertain

appeal concerning any grievance of the student connected with payment of fees, disciplinary action

taken by the college, punishment imposed in case of malpractice or any act of misconduct,attendance, pass marks, valuation of papers etc. Wherever the matter concerns the interpretation

of rules, regulations, ordinances of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences or A.P. Universities Act,

1991 the Managing Committee/Appellate Authority shall have the right to direct the

student(s)/parent(s) to Dr NTR University of Health Sciences or any other authority or authorities for

the relief prayed for. The Appellate shall not pass any order or orders concerning any matters

covered by the rules, regulations, ordinances, etc., to be interpreted by the University of Health

Sciences.

APPEAL

55. Any dispute concerning the interpretation of any of the terms and conditions of admissionand any of the paragraphs of this prospectus or any dispute concerning the sale of prospectus,conduct of admission, course, fees, examination, attendance, pass marks, evaluation of papers

etc., shall be resolved amicably. If the student or any parent representing any minor student and thecollege fails to resolve the dispute amicably, the matter should be referred to the sole Arbitration ofthe Chairman or any other person(s) nominated by the Chairman.

56. The award passed by the sole Arbitrator shall be binding on both the parties. The place ofarbitration shall be at Secunderabad or the college premises only and the provisions of Arbitrationand Conciliation Act, 1996 shall apply to the arbitration proceedings. The courts situated atSecunderabad and Ranga Reddy District alone shall have the jurisdiction to entertain anyapplication or litigation concerning the arbitration.

There will be a Combined Written Admission Test (C-WAT) for admission to session2014 -15 of Army College of Dental Sciences Secunderabad, Army College of Nursing JalandharCantt and Army Institute of Nursing Guwahati. The Prospectus/Application Forms for admissionto the three institutions, however, are released separately. All the three colleges i.e. Army Collegeof Dental Sciences, Army College of Nursing and Army Institute of Nursing bring out theirseparate prospectus, which can be obtained from the offices of the three institutions. Candidatesdesirous of applying to more than one institution will have to procure the prospectus ofthe respective institutions; fill in the prescribed forms for each of them and submit themdirectly to Army College of Dental Sciences Secunderabad.No candidate will be considered for admission to an institution unless he / she fills the prescribedapplication form of the corresponding institution(s).

Candidates applying for more than one institution are advised to clearly mention theirpriority of choice of the respective institutions in their application forms giving particulars of theapplication forms of the institutions they have applied, as sought in relevant column of theapplication form. For example, if as per his / herperformance in C-WAT, a combined applicant gets the institution of his / her first choice then he /she will not be considered for a seat in the institution of his / her second or third choice. Similarly, ifa combined applicant gets his / her second choice then he / she will not be considered for a seat inthe institution of his / her third choice. But a Combined candidate who gets his lower priority choice

will be considered for a place in the waiting list in the institution of his / her higher priority choice asper his / her C-WAT merit. DISCIPLINE1. The college maintains a very high degree of discipline. Some importantcircumstances under which admission can be cancelled by the management are:-

(a) Not having 75% attendance in theory and 80% attendance in practicals.

(b) Any breach of rules/ regulations promulgated by Dr NTR University of HealthSciences.

(c) Non payment of fees within stipulated period.

(d) Raising any issues contrary to the agreed terms and conditions under theprospectus.

(e) Any breach of Undertaking given.

2. Admission of student who is involved in the following disciplinary grounds can becancelled by the management:-

(a) Ragging is not allowed in the college. Students accused of ragging andfound guilty after due investigation, would be expelled from the college .

(b) Punishable offence under any statute in force including drug abuse.

(c) Inciting any communal or religious disharmony.

(d) Any activity which can affect the academic atmosphere.
