BRIEF REPORT OF SHALAKYA MANTHANA – 2015

On the auspicious occasion of KLE Society’s Centenary Celebration Year, Shri

BMK Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Belagavi, department of Shalakyatantra organized 01st

International & 09th National Conference of Shalakyatantra from 25th to 29th Nov 2015.

Preamble

Shalakya Tantra one among eight specialities of Ayurveda deals with ailments

related to Eye, ENT, oro-dental, head and neck. It is estimated that 65% of the

population suffers from one or the other Shalakya Tantra related health problems. More

than 200 clinical conditions their management that includes several drugs, formulations

and therapeutic procedures are explained vividly in Ayurveda.

There are around 26 institutes offering post-graduate studies in Shalakya Tantra

which are continuously imparting knowledge on recent developments and updates.

Though there are number of research advances, paucity is widely noticed in Shalakya

Tantra practices. Thus, the ShalakyaManthana an International Conference including

Pre-conference Workshop and Expo has been conceptualized with an aim to explore

the unexplored and to update the recent advances and also to impart clinical skills for

wider application and practice of Shalakyatantra.

The ShalakyaManthana conference initiated with first meeting along with TAS

conveyed on 06/07/2014 in K L E Ayurveda Hospital meeting hall.

The ShalakyaManthana logo released on 09/08/2014 in the Academic Council

Hall of KLE University by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor Dr. ChandrakantKokate,

Registrar Dr. V. D. Patil and other university officials, principal and departmental staffs

were also present on the occasion.
