HOW DO YOU ENGINEER SPACE?Parking has also been made easier and safer by integrating a rearview camera* that accurately displays whats behind you throughthe Satellite Navigation screen. THE MORE EYES, THE BETTER The Accord, which has been awarded a Euro NCAP 5 star rating, comes with an optional AdvancedDrivers Assist System (ADAS) designed to minimise driver fatigue on long journeys and offers additionalprotection in the event of a collision. This advanced technology includes Lane Keeping Assist System(LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)*.

LANE KEEPING ASSIST SYSTEM (LKAS)*

This is a unique innovation using a cameramounted behind the rear view mirror,to sense line markings on the road.LKAS calculates the amount of steeringtorque required to help you keep the vehicleon track and is supported by an audiblewarning if you drift off course.

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC)*

By using a radar device in the front grille, ACC automatically brakes or slows down your Accord if it senses the car in front is deceleratingand will increase speed up to its pre-set limit ifthe road ahead is clear. You can also adjust thedistance between your car and the car in frontwith steering wheel mounted controls.

06 COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKINGSYSTEM (CMBS)

CMBS has been specically designed to help alert thedriver of an impending collision or - if its unavoidable - toreduce the severity of impact by automatically applyingthe brakes if a collision is detected. The eye of thesystem is a radar transmitter mounted behind Accordsgrille. A radar signal is constantly transmitted and thereturn echo evaluated. If the system detects a vehicleor obstruction in the road, it determines the distanceand closing speed. If the closing speed goes abovethe threshold, the system immediately alerts the driverwith a ashing indicator on the instrument panel andan audible alarm. If the driver takes no action to reducespeed, the system will automatically vibrate the driversseatbelt and lightly apply the brakes. At the point whenthe system senses that a frontal collision is inevitable andthe driver has still taken no avoidance action, both of the

front seatbelts are retracted tightly and strong braking isapplied automatically. This automatic action is designedto lower impact speed and help reduce vehicle damageand the severity of personal injury.

01 ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC)

ACC uses information from a millimetre-wave radarmounted inside the front grille to measure the distanceto the vehicle ahead, while vehicle speed and yaw ratesensors detect the vehicles driving parameters.In addition to maintaining a set speed, ACC is also ableto automatically regulate both the vehicle speed and itsdistance to the vehicle ahead travelling in the same lane,thereby reducing the burden of highway (or similar road)driving and enhancing driver comfort and safety.

ACC only operates if all the following conditions arefully fullled:- The vehicle speed is set between 19-112 mph- Main switch is activated

04 BLUETOOTH

The Bluetooth Hands Free Telephone System (HFT)enables drivers to make and receive calls while driving.

An in-car speaker and microphone system operated viasteering wheel controls allows calls to be made with easewhilst driving. Although the use of hands free phones ispermitted, the police can stop and penalise you if you aredistracted and not in full control of your car.

05 CO 2

Carbon dioxide is one of the exhaust gases believed tobe one of the causes of the greenhouse effect. The lowerthe CO 2 emissions, the better for the environment.

07 i-DTEC

The Honda i-DTEC engine - the i stands for intelligent is a new-generation direct injection engine that usesboth the latest common rail and variable turbochargertechnology. As a result, its signicantly quieter, smoother,more powerful and returns greater fuel economy thanconventional diesels.

11 SATELLITE NAVIGATION SYSTEMWITH VOICE RECOGNITION

The satellite linked, DVD-based navigation systemdelivers turn-by-turn directions by voice and movingmap display all the way to your destination. The DVDalso contains points of interest such as service stationsif you should require them in an unfamiliar area. Thesystem can recognise over 550 voice commands including many operations for the audio and climatecontrol systems - so the driver can make adjustmentswithout taking their hands off the steering wheel .

10 LANE KEEPING ASSIST SYSTEM (LKAS)

Identies the boundaries of the vehicles lane byprocessing images from a C-MOS camera mountedbehind the windscreen. It then calculates the optimumsteering torque to keep the vehicle in the centre of thelane and provides steering torque to the wheel to keepthe vehicle in the centre of the lane.- On roads with left and right boundary markings (wheremarkings are clear and visible)- On motorways or roads that are equivalent to motorways- Driver has to keep contact with the steering wheel; if thesystem fails to recognise the drivers input on the steering,it switches itself off - Side indicators are not activated- Steering torque generated by the driver does notindicate imminent lane change manoeuvre.

ABS prevents the wheels from locking when the brakesare applied in an emergency, reducing the possibility of askid on wet, icy or loose surfaces and enabling the driverto retain steering control.

03 ANTI-LOCK BRAKING S YSTEM (ABS )

Accord has been designed with an innovative framestructure engineered to reduce the concentrated frontalforce on occupants in front end impacts. Accords

Advanced Com patibility Engineer ing (ACE) designdisperses and absorbs crash energy over a larger areaenhancing the preservation of the cabin space, improvingsafety for all occupants. Additionally, ACE also helps toreduce misalignment with vehicles of different sizes. Thedesign of Accords structure reduces impact forces actingupon other vehicles including the smallest of super-minis.

02 ADVANCED COMPATIBILITYENGINEERING (ACE)

TSA works in conjunction with VSA and has beendesigned to enhance safety when towing a trailer.

Through various sensors normally attributed just to thevehicles VSA, TSA will initiate the appropriate brake

applications to the wheels which will then stabilise Accord and trailer.

12 TRAILER STABILI TY ASSIS T (TSA)

The Highbeam Support System assesses the drivingconditions around you and switches automatically, if required.

The Active Cornering Light means that the cornering light willilluminate the turning you are about to take, from the momentyou indicate or turn the steering wheel.

The gures for the fuel consumption and CO 2 emissionsare to give you an indication of the cars performance.Following legislation by the VCA (Vehicle Certication

Agency), all car manufacturers generate these statisticsthrough the same industry standard test. This allowscomparison across all manufacturers and models. The testsuse a base grade version of the model and do not take intoaccount optional levels of equipment, such as different sizedwheels, tyres and other factors that can affect the economyof the model. The test is on a rolling road and there isno additional weight in the car other than the driver (nopassengers or cargo) and it does not account f or individualdriving style, which can mean a difference to the guresachievable in the real world.
