Each condition being unique, your child will be cared for upon arrival through a personalized treatment programme, recommended by a doctor of the Centre. Dedicated to Dermatology, and equipped with high-performance medical equipment, Avène Centre practices a scientific thermalism and an innovative hydrotherapy for chronic dermatoses* effective starting from the very first treatment session.

Through specific workshops, you will accompany your child and enjoy your stay to learn together to better live the pathology every day.

Personalised treatmentsAs soon as your child arrives He will be seen by a doctor from the centre for consultation. Depending on the diagnosis and his medical treatment history, the doctor will chart a daily treatment programme specifically to meet your child’s needs, approx. 1h30.

The recommended medical treatment is 3 weeks.

For patients under 12 years old, presence of an accompanying adult is mandatory during treatment. For hygiene purposes, this person will have to wear a bathrobe and flip flop shoes (provided by the centre).

Adapted support for children suffering from chronic dermatoses.Chronic dermatoses such as eczema represent the majority of pathologies treated at Avène Centre. They require appropriate care.

TREATMENTS BASEDON AVENE THERMAL WATERSimple bath, whirlpool bath and hydro massage. Bath is central element to the Hydrotherapy treatment, with several effects: emollient, anti-inflammatory and calming.General sprays and showers also have a calming effect that soothes itching.

Filiform showers: these adjustable-pressure showers are administered by the Hydrotherapy doctor. They allow a much-targeted treatment for injuries and provide deep skin massage and soften the skin.

Local spraying on the face, hands and scalp, and Thermal Water Compresses on the most irritated lesions will allow soothing the inflammation and the itching.Underwater massage: this technique has a relaxing effect and leave the skin feeling supple.

SPECIF IC MOISTURIS ING TREATMENTSBody wrap with emollient cream: an important supplement in the treatment of ichthyosis, psoriatic or atopic dry skin. It will reduce the thickness of the skin’s upper layer while providing more comfort.

Moisturising modelling of the body: this body treatment gives your skin the benefit of optimised moisturising through gentle modelling.

Facial treatment with moisturising cream: this treatment relaxes your skin by soothing and calming its inflammations and provides comfort by moisturising it.

Complete scalp treatment: it reduces squamae and soothes itching and inflammation. A gentle massage relaxes the scalp and helps you relax too.

Application of emollient cream This technique allows both to soften the skin and to bring well-being. A privileged exchange between you and your child hat makes the treatment easier to accept. The application becomes a moment of pleasure.

Alternative to scratching - Anti-scratching box!You will get all the tips and tricks you need for your childto avoid scratching and for him to implement new actionsand habits to no longer “traumatise” his skin.

Relaxation To calm and relax your child, relaxation techniques are taught as play games.

Medical conferences led by dermatologists, are proposedevery week for you, parents, to get information about thepathology and its treatments.

“Hydrotherapy at Avène” tells you about the history of the Centre, the source of the thermal water and the benefit of each treatment for all dermatosis.

“Dermatology” will give you “everything you need to know”about atopic dermatitis or psoriasis. “Diet and nutrition” explains why, and how, your diet plays an important role in your health. You will be given tips to help you change your food habits if they are poor or unsuitable for you. Moreover, we work in line with the Plan National Nutrition Santé (P.N.N.S.) [National Health Nutrition Plan].

Frequently-asked questions

What will the first day at the centre be like?Your stay starts with a consultation with a hydrotherapy doctor. During this consultation, you can give the doctor all the documents relating to your child’s medical condition (letter from your local physician, tests results, list of your medications, etc.). Your child can start his treatment programme at the hydrotherapy centre after this consultation.

What to wear?A clean bathrobe will be lent every day, free of charge, for your child and the accompanying adult when you start the treatment programme. To ensure a hygienic environment, flip-flops meant exclusively for the treatment area must be worn. It is strongly recommended to take a towel for the hair showers and local spraying. Also provided free of charge.

What about the payment?Payment is required on arrival, based upon quotation from your medical prescription. Final invoice will be calculated and paid on your last day. We accept payment by cash or credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American express).The medical fees (consultation and filiform showers) are to be directly paid to the hydrotherapy doctor, at the medical centre.

Avène thermal site,leisures to discover for young and old!Beyond the treatment, you can enjoy all together a natural and preserved environment in which to relax. The thermal site is perfectly equipped for recreation: tennis courts, a multisport field, a mini golf, a bowling pitch, a playground, a beautiful park, an arboretum and orienteering.

Children from 3 to 12 years old can be welcomed by state-trained professionals and animators at the kid’s club “Les Mûriers”, where many activities are proposed.
