AmCham Okinawa Colleague – August 2012 A very busy month for a very busy American Chamber of Commerce in Okinawa, with a variety of events and activities involving our members. Our first-ever Independence Day Summer Barbeque was a success; we had close to 100 members, guests and family members joining the festivities at Kadena Marina. For 2013, it’s going to be an even bigger and better event. As a Chamber, we joined in saying farewell to U.S. Consul General and Mrs. Raymond F. Greene. The event hosted by the U.S. Consul General was well attended by our members. Army Colonel Lance Koenig, Commander of the 10th Regional Support Group and a strong ACCO supporter and activities participant, turned over the reins last week with a Change of Command Ceremony at Torii Station. We welcome the incoming Commander, Colonel Sheila A. Bryant, and look forward to her being involved in our chamber activities. Summer’s a tough time for our supporters, as we also bid farewell to Air Force Colonel Roftiel Constantine, Commander of the 18th Mission Support Group. We’ve already extended the hand of friendship to his replacement, Colonel Jeffrey R. Ullman. Another fun event that found Vice President Lemont Whiteside and I donning cook’s whites and caps was a Spam Cook-off involving top hotel chefs from Okinawa. Sounds strange? It was all part of the 75th anniversary of the Spam family of products, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the American Consulate Naha hosted the demonstrations and cook-off. It’s safe to say that all chefs on Okinawa can relax; their jobs are safe. See you all soon and thank you for your support. http://www.amchamokinawa.org [email protected] TEL: (098) 898-5401 FAX: (098) 898-5411 August 2012 President’s First Word Mr. Tony Sakuda, President

AmCham Okinawa Colleague – August 2012

A very busy month for a very busy American Chamber of Commerce in Okinawa, with a variety of events and activities

involving our members. Our first-ever Independence Day Summer

Barbeque was a success; we had close to 100 members, guests and family members joining the festivities at Kadena Marina.
