Irving consists of five public school districts, along with multiple charter and private schools. Irving schools spend $9,756 per student. There are 16 pupils per teacher, 507 students per librarian and 412 children per counselor in Irving. Irving ISD has been recognized by the College Board as its 2015 AP District of the Year. One Irving, now in its fifth year, is the Chamber’s five-year programmatic capital campaign aimed at providing strategic education programs in Irving schools. Workforce development is key for Irving’s continued growth and success. Irving is home to the University of Dallas, North Lake College, Universal Technical Institute, DeVry University and Aviation Institute of Maintenance.

Four Irving-Las Colinas Chamber member-investors were selected by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as 2016 DREAM BIG Blue Ribbon Award Winners, including a Regional Finalist, one of only seven across the nation. This prestigious award recognizes a company’s innovation and contribution to economic growth. The Chamber assists businesses in applying and leads a fly-in to Washington D.C. where winners are recognized at the U.S. Chamber’s Small Business Summit and advocate for small business interests on Capitol Hill.The Chamber remains a resource for entrepreneurs, innovators and small businesses providing services like SCORE (Senior Core of Retired Executives) which offers business planning guidance, lead generation and vendor referrals. SCORE has assisted in the successful start-up of more than 50 businesses in Irving-Las Colinas in the last seven years.

The Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce continues to pave the way for international opportunities with businesses across North Texas and the world. The Irving Chamber’s International Trade Development and Assistance Center/Sister Cities Program (ITDAC) provides support to Irving companies interested in starting or expanding their international business activities. In 2016, ITDAC, in partnership and alignment with the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, DFW International Airport and TexasOne, assisted more than 150 local companies and entrepreneurs in expanding their international footprint.

U.S. EXPORT-IMPORT BANK REAUTHORIZATION • The Chamber, working with our partners at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (USCC) and the Texas Association of Business (TAB), supported the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank of the United States.

OVERTIME RULE • In partnership with the USCC, TAB and Chambers across the state, the Irving Chamber joined efforts to challenge the Department of Labor’s new regulations in federal court.

FIDUCIARY RULE • The Chamber joined the USCC and TAB in challenging the Department of Labor’s Fiduciary Rule in federal court.

VOICE OF BUSINESS AT LOCAL, STATE & FEDERAL LEVEL • In May, Chamber investors traveled to Washington D.C. to advocate for our federal priorities and small business issues on Capitol Hill.

COMMITTEE TO INFORM VOTERS ON BUSINESS ISSUES (CIVBI) • The Chamber will continue to actively support issue campaigns through our CIVBI PAC. We will provide a fair, consistent voice for balanced business policy.
