Many people in various parts of the world who has used acai berry extract are convinced of its health benefits. However, so far no scientific studies have yet to prove them to be true. So, are these benefits real or hyped?

The acai berry, comprising of pulp and a seed, is a protein rich fruit. This fruit forms a major diet component in the form of juices, health tablets, powder, liquor and other beverages. Acai health has been pretty much talked about. It is being proclaimed as one of the leading energising, weight losing and anti-oxidising agent for people. But till date, no studies have yet to prove all these acai health benefits.

The acai has been found to have an intermediate level of antioxidant effect for the human biological system according to the few studies conducted. While fruits like apples, blueberries, bananas and pomegranates rank lower than the acai on the antioxidant factor, the likes of Concord grapes, black cherries and red wine rank higher than the acai.

It seems that the major health benefit of the acai which is more apparent is its antioxidant factor. With its relatively superior antioxidant benefits, the acai, when taken in the right proportions as advised by the dietician or doctors, can help in controlling and preventing occurrences of heart diseases and related lifestyle problems attached to them.

Acai has also been proclaimed to have other acai health benefits like reducing body weight, increasing sexual performances, improving digestive system, and helping in dealing with diseases like diabetes. But no conclusive scientific results have yet to prove this. Logic and medical science say that the acai, like other fruits and plants, is helpful in maintaining a healthy body without doubt. But the extent of this benefit is not as exemplary as proclaimed today.

The adverse effects on health of an acai rich diet are guessed to be those of controlling hunger or appetite of a person. Secondly, acai, if at all an energizing agent, also stands a chance of disturbing the sleep metabolism and leaving a person sleep deprived if acai is taken in larger than advised quantities.

In order to know if the acai health benefits are real or hyped for you, the only way is to try out this food that many people have considered a super food.
