LMO REWARDS TRIP

Year 7 and Year 8 students went to the Museum of

Science and Industry on Tuesday as a reward for the

work they did on the Ramayana and Cosmology

projects in RE.

Miss Morris and Miss Pereira accompanied the students on the trip. Both year groups were very

well behaved and had a lovely afternoon.

GEOGRAPHY NEWS

Message from JDE and RAL;

The Humanities are extremely proud to

share the amazing homework that Isha

Agha produced this week on flooding in

Bangladesh.

Isha went above and beyond the task,

producing an accurate model reflecting

different responses to flooding, including

houses on stilts, as well as actual water to

show the flood itself! Well done and a

great example for others to follow.

ONLINE SAFETY Message from Mrs Prescott and Ms Jones;

We just wanted to let you all know that we really enjoyed

delivering these online safety assemblies and the

feedback from students and staff has been very positive.

Some of you contributed to the discussions and shared

your views with us, on this serious and very important topic,

which was great. It was also really good to hear that there

are some students who don’t use any Social Media sites at

all.

We want everyone to REMEMBER;

• Don’t engage / talk with strangers online

• If you do make sure somebody else knows about them.

• Never meet anybody on your own.

• Tell SOMEONE! If you are being harassed or bullied

online.

• Clear out your Facebook accounts do you really have

over 1000+ friends? Do you know them all personally?

We want you all to be safe out there…

HELP us to share this Cedar Mount Academy Message with your families, friends

and neighbours.

ENJOY it…. Have FUN! But PLEASE… Stay safe online

BUCKINGHAM PALACE VISIT

Duke of Edinburgh Diamond Anniversary

“Over the last 60 years millions of young people across the globe, from

all backgrounds and circumstances, have given it their all through their

DofE Award. The DofE leaves a footprint on their lives, as their Award

opens doors to new jobs, cements life- long friendships, broadens

interests and stretches horizons.

Celebrating our Diamond Anniversary the DofE is calling for everyone

to give it their all in 2016, for themselves, their families, their communities

and others, and for the DofE, so that the Charity

can power generations to come and offer more

found people the gift of opportunity.“

Please visit http://www.dofe.org/diamond-

all it offers.

Message from HBA;

On Monday 16th May, Mr Roberts and I were

invited to Buckingham Palace in

celebration of 60 years of the Duke of

Edinburgh Award. We both enjoyed a

glorious day in the sunshine in the most

spectacular gardens. We were lucky to

meet with the Earl of Wessex who

acknowledged the hard work and

commitment of the academy’s young

people to the prestigious award. Cedar

Mount was presented with a plaque to

mark the occasion by TV personality,

Andrea McClean, most famous for her

presenting role on the TV programme,

‘Loose Women’. It was a very special event that demonstrated the passion and dedication that

Cedar Mount Academy has towards its young people. http://www.itv.com/hub/loose-women/1a3173a2531

In line with Rushbrook’s other fundraising event

happening next Tuesday in the Northern Quarter,

Paul Walsh is currently organising a Staff Football

match between 4 BFET Schools.

Do you fancy teaming up with Melland High

Its £5 per head and all money raised will go to

towards supporting some of our most vulnerable families with essential costs such as

clothing, transport, toys etc.

As it stands at the moment the match is TBC but will happen on one Friday after school

before the end of the academic year.

Staff members from all 4 schools are welcome and obviously we’d love some visitors to

come and cheer their teams on too!

A WARM WELCOME

Have you noticed our new neighbours?

We’d like to take this opportunity to

welcome Rushbrook Primary Academy

to Gorton Education Village.

We’ve even got new signs!

Please see below for more information

about the new school and how to find

them.

WELCOME FROM THE PRINCIPAL

I am delighted to welcome you to our new Rushbrook website

and to our brand new school building. Rushbrook was

previously known as Gorton Mount Primary Academy and is

part of Bright Futures Educational Trust (BFET). We are a 3 form

entry school with a 60 place nursery and we aim to give the

very best educational experiences and academic progress to

all of our pupils. We work closely with our partner schools across

BFET, especially Cedar Mount and Melland High (with whom

we share a campus) and Stanley Grove, our nearest partner

Primary School. We also work closely with the central BFET team

and our specialist support team (including educational

psychologists and speech therapists) to offer the best support

to our pupils and families.

We have invested (in partnership with the Education Funding

Agency and Manchester City Council) in a brand new building

with wonderful resources and spaces to maximise

learning opportunities for the children of Rushbrook.

We look forward to seeing you at a school event soon,

Phil Mellen

Principal
