The academy business challenge is a two week mandatory assignment set by the principles, the challenge is to provide three solutions to a problem given to us by a local company.

We are assigned a teacher from the academy, to assist us on matters and guide us through the process. Our mentor is the very helpful Mr Goldstein.

What is the ABC?What is the ABC?

A great thing about the Business Challenge is that it will give you the edge on your CV.

It teaches us to work in non-friendship teams, improving interpersonal skills.

Helps develop our life skills, and makes us ready for the world of business!

If not anything else, it teaches us the benefits of time management.

Why do we do it? Why do we do it?

In groups of six we must complete various tasks, and to a high standard, in a limited amount of time.

The business is randomly drawn out of a hat, so it is unlikely to know too much information on the company prior.

Work for a local business to solve a real life problem they have given us.

Create a website to show our findings and three solutions.

A blog, to communicate the days work.

Video Diaries, which capture our progress.

We will also need to complete three mini challenges along the way, the first being our presentation for you today.

The mini challenges are short tasks that are given to us to accomplish throughout the two weeks.

These mini challenges are assigned at random stages of the process.

There are three in total, The first being issued on day one.

These contribute to our total score at the end of the business challenge.

Our CompanyOur Company The company we have been given is Hedley Dunk, located

in Dartford next to the church.

They are an accounting firm dealing with matters ranging from taxation to auditing. Their clients include lion tamers and even members of a nunnery.

The challenge set by Hedley Dunk is - “To help promote a medium sized accounting firm through the use of social media”.

What ideas can you come up with in response to this challenge? (In your tables).

On Monday the 8th of July, we present our findings made so far to a principle.

The final presentation is made at Dartford Football Club to our company director and a panel of judges on Friday 12th of July.

At the end of the two weeks, we are marked on several aspects:

On Tuesday the 16th of July we attend an awards ceremony to see who has won the academy business challenge!

First place will receive £600 in cash.
