TRANSFORMING TECHNOLOGY:

In order to further support the September opening, and deliver a quality experience

to students both in classroom and online, the following has been accomplished:

• Upgraded both Internet links to the fastest bandwidth available, and leveraged both internet connections.

• Upgraded the Firewalls and Content Filter to handle this increased bandwidth and eliminated any major bottleneck.

• Upgraded all switches. This will allow faster connections from the classroom.

• Upgraded the wireless network to the new AC standard. This will allow faster wireless for all applications & devices

on the network. This will allow for significantly improved everyday support for the wireless network.

TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT & SUPPORT:

Teacher professional development has continued with teachers enrolling this summer in instructional technology classes

from Lower Hudson Regional Information Center (LHRIC) Model Schools Service. This will continue throughout the year.

The Office of Instructional Technology will provide maintenance support to all stakeholders in need of troubleshooting the

numerous technology platforms. All of the aforementioned will continue both virtually and in person as necessary.

PLEASE NOTE: WE WILL LIMIT THE STUDENTS TO 1 DEVICE ON THE WIFI NETWORK.

SYMPTOMS REQUIRE TESTINGWhen a student/staff member presents with COVID-19 symptoms at school, they will be sent for testing accompanied by

parent or family member. State sponsored testing sites are available in the nurse’s office. They have a 2-3 day response for

results and are free. Rapid tests, conducted in emergency rooms, have a 40% chance of a false negative, and there is a longer

waiting period for results. You will also be charged a co-pay.

POSITIVE COVID-19 TEST RESULT REQUIRES QUARANTINE• Per CDC guidelines, those that have tested positive for COVID-19, as diagnosed by a health care provider, must stay home for 14 days.

• Those exposed to a person that tested positive, i.e. 6Ft or < x 10 or more minutes,

will need to stay home for 14 days after the last contact with that person.

• They must watch for fever or other symptoms of COVID-19 and isolate themselves from others in your household.

• Should there be multiple positive cases, the Department of Health will make recommendations to the school administration

regarding school operations.

CONTACT TRACING• Nurse will contact the family of student or staff member that tested positive.

• Upon learning of a positive case, contact tracing will be deployed. Administrators will contact all students and

staff members that have come in contact with positive student or teacher through school activities.

• Those members of the school community will then need to go into quarantine for 14 days.

• Nurse will also contact Department of Health so they may begin contact tracing for the individual student

and teacher in their respective home communities.

Please note: As per HIPPA law, the school CANNOT make public the name of the individual who has tested positive.

THE FOLLOWING ARE NEW GUIDELINES FOR ALL PRIVATE STEPINAC HIGH SCHOOL ROUTES.

The same guidelines will be encouraged for public transportation and transportation by local school districts.

We will educate students and families who utilize public transportation or local school district transportation about safe

ridership and CDC and DOH guidance, including mask wearing, social distancing, and complying with other

MTA and Bee Line guidelines.

• All busses will be disinfected each day. All high contact spots will be wiped down each morning and afternoon.

• Students who ride busses must wear masks when seated, standing, or getting on and off the bus.

• Drivers must wear masks, face shields, and gloves. Drivers will be trained in proper use of PPE and the signs and symptoms

of COVID-19. They will perform a self-health assessment for symptoms of COVID-19 before arriving to work.

• School busses will not be equipped with hand sanitizer as it is combustible. Hand sanitizers will be available

in garages and main custodial offices near busses.

• Students waiting for the bus are encouraged to social distance. Avoid creating crowds.

• Bus capacity will be reduced. Vans will have maximum capacity of 7-10.

Regular size busses will have a maximum capacity of 22. This will allow for staggered spacing.

• We will encourage the formation of “carpool bus routes” among cohorts of students –

in which families with cars take turns doing a route to pick up and/or drop off.

O Mary,

You shine continuously on our journey

as a sign of salvation and hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, the health of the sick,

who, at the foot of the cross,

were united with Jesus’ suffering,

and persevered in your faith.

“Protectress of the Roman people”,

you know our needs,

and we know that you will provide,

so that, as at Cana in Galilee,

joy and celebration may return

after this time of trial.

Help us, Mother of Divine Love,

to conform ourselves to the will of the Father

and to do what Jesus tells us.

For he took upon himself our suffering,

and burdened himself with our sorrows

to bring us, through the cross,

to the joy of the Resurrection.

Amen.

We fly to your protection,

O Holy Mother of God;

Do not despise our petitions

in our necessities,

but deliver us always

from every danger,

O Glorious and Blessed Virgin.

- POPE FRANCIS
