On 29.1.20 Students from Class I – VII

were awarded certificates for creating

awareness about the traffic rules.

Sports Activities

25 students of our school participated in the

Sprint Athletic Event organized by PSBB

Senior Secondary School at Nehru Stadi-

um on 30.01.20 & 31.01.20. They were

awarded participation certificates.

Thematic Observances

International Family Day

On 3.01.20 International Family Day was

celebrated. IV B children conducted the as-

sembly. Kavya, Manish Shravan, and Aryan

presented speech in Hindi, English and

Tamil respectively. The importance of fami-

ly and its values were highlighted.

National youth Day

On 8.01.20 National Youth Day was cele-

brated to commemorate the birthday of

Swami Vivekananda. He always believed

the importance to sow good seed in youth as

youth are the future of the country.

His contribution on inspiring the youth of

India was lauded through the speeches de-

livered by the

students.

National tourism Day

On 27.1.20 A special assembly was con-

ducted on National tourism Day. India is a

diverse nation and it offers several forms of

tourism including cultural, nature, heritage,

educational, sports, rural, eco-tourism, etc.

These aspects make it a prime attraction for

tourists. This was highlighted through a

skit by std VII. Manibhusan and Hladini of

VI B provided information on tourism.

On 28.1.20 a special assembly program on

Lala Lajpat Rai was conducted to educate

the students on National leaders.

PTA President Mr. Edward addressed the

gathering and inspired the students with his

motivational speech.

Pongal Celebrations

Dept. of Kindergarten celebrated Pongal

Festival on 10.01.2010.

Pride and festive cheer marked the Pongal

celebration at SBIOA International

School, Mambakkam.

Students came in traditional attire to show

their connection with their roots, culture and

place.

Children danced Gummi around the

Rangoli.

Students performed other cultural events

like Silambam, Jallikattu, thappu attam and

spoke about the need to save farmers and

agriculture.

Our Correspondent Mr. M. Muralidharan

graced the occasion and spoke about the

thanksgiving festival and the importance of

our culture.

Sweet Pongal was distributed to share the

festive spirit.

International Girl Child Day

A special assembly was conducted on

21.01.20 to enlighten the importance of girl

child and awareness on gender inequality.

Steam Explorer

As an initiative to promote participatory and

hands – on learning in Arts and Science

SBIOA International School, Sonalur,

Chennai organized a ‘Steam Explorer’ on

22.01.20 & 23.01.20 in connection with Na-

tional Science Day. The activity aimed at

providing a common platform to the stu-

dents to give a shape to their innovative ide-

as and learning experience.

The students showcased their scientific and

creative skills on static and working models.

It also exhibited their fervor for science and

arts.

Dr. Indra Jayaraj, Vice Principal – Sharpen,

the chief guest appreciated the students and

teachers for their tremendous effort. The

overwhelming response kindled the stu-

dents to promote more models in the up-

coming years. Many working models,

charts, painting, craft works were displayed

during the exhibition which stole the show.

Roboheals planet

S P Robotics created a world record at An-

na University, Guindy campus on

24.01.2020 in which M. Kaushik of VII

Std, studying in SBIOA International

School, Sonalur, Chennai took part.

The event was certified by TIFA as a world

record event with most participants planting

saplings using Robots. For the first time

more than 300 Students created a micro for-

est with the help of robots to fight against

global warming.

Active Fest (Bustling Bees)

A unique programme to explore the

talent of the students was held by De-

partment of Kindergarten in SBIOA

International School from 27.1.20 to

31.1.20. The focus was to develop the

sensory, cognitive, listening, eye-hand

co-ordination skills of the young chil-

dren.

The programme was inaugurated by

the Correspondent Mr. M. Murali-

dharan. Kindergarten Students active-

ly participated in various activities.

Parents witnessed the performance of

their wards.

The programme was a grand success

and received applause and apprecia-

tion from parents. All the students

were awarded a medal and carried

happy

memories.

G.K. and Library week

On 29.01.20 G.K. and Library week

was celebrated. Students of IV B pre-

sented their speech in Tamil as well as

in English. Students have been updat-

ed with the library rules. Quiz compe-

tition was conducted for various levels.

Competitions

Eight students participated in the

Tamil Valar Mandra Competitions

organized by SBOA Junior College on

11.01.20. Various Competitions like

fancy dress, Elocution, Group Song

were conducted.

Staff enrichment program

A model class for the English teachers was

conducted on 22.1.20 and 24.1.20 to enrich

the LSRW skills in English.

Dr . Indra Jayaraj -Vice Principal ,

Sharpen was the resource person conduct-

ed a model classes on prose , poetry and

grammar. The session helped the teachers

to gain effective teaching.

Librarian Mrs. Shanthi from SBOA JC vis-

ited our school on 22.1.20 and interacted

with the students and told about the im-

portance of books. She also checked our

school library and the stock maintained.
