1. Islam and its meaning.

2. The five pillars of Islam:

(i) Faith – al – Iman :

(a) Tawhid, (b) Belief in Angels, (c) Belief in the Holy Scriptures, (d) Belief in Allah’s Prophets, (e) Belief in the Day of Judgement, (f) Belief in life after death.

(ii) Salat - Prayers : (iii) Saum - Fasting, (iv) Zakat - Poor – tax, (v) Haji - Pilgrimage.

3. A brief study of Islamic Shariáh :

(i) The meaning of Shariáh (ii) The introduction of the sources of Shariáh

(a) The Holy Qur’an (b) The Traditions of the Prophet (c) Fiqh – Jurisprudence.

4. The Dos and Don’ts of Islam with special reference to the farewell sermon of the prophet.

5. Tolerance in Islam and the interaction with non – Muslims

6. Islamic code of conduct ; Duty towards parents, relations, neighbours, orphans and destitutes.

7. The marriage and divorce in Islam.

8. The status of women in Islam.

9. The ‘Eid celebrations : (i) Eid al – Fitr (ii) Eid al - Adha.
