Just because she asked
The characters and events depicted in this book are fictitious. Any similarity to any person or animal living or dead is merely coincidental. This book does not indicate by any means that all ducks are bad or all cows are lazy; only a few are. If any person or animal is offended please accept the author’s sincere apologies. No animals were harmed in the making of this book.
Aby is a pig. She lived in an
ordinary house with ordinary
parents. There was nothing
special about Aby. Aby was
not happy. She wanted to be
a Someone.
So she thought, “All the other
animals would look up to me if I
wear expensive feathers and
hang out with the swans.”
So she glued feathers to her
hide and wore the best brand
name clothes she could find.
All the swans let her hang out
with them, but none of them
treated her like a friend. In
fact, they would laugh at her
when she was not looking.
Aby didn’t like spending all
her money on expensive
items so that she would fit in.
Aby was not happy.
So she thought “It would be
cool to hang out with the
cows. They are cool because
they just stand around and do
nothing and don’t have a care
about anything.”
So Aby bought the best
leather jacket she could find
and hung around doing
nothing. The cows did nothing
all day but stand around and
eat and drink and seldom said
anything. Aby was bored and
was not happy.
So she thought, “Everyone
respects the horses. The
horses are so strong and
athletic. If I was a superstar
like the horses I would be the
most famous animal on the
farm.”
But, Aby was no horse, and
to be as good as the horses
she would have to practice
hard for a long time. Aby did
not want to wait that long to
be respected. Aby was not
happy.
So she thought, “Everyone
knows about the DUCKs
because they do bad things.
They do what they want and
take whatever they want.
Everyone is afraid of the
DUCKs.”
Aby joined the DUCKs and
she thought they liked her,
but every time Aby did
something bad with the
DUCKs she had a bad feeling
inside of her. She soon
realized that she was doing
most of the bad things for the
DUCKs and they wanted her
to steal all the time. Aby was
not happy.
One day while Aby was
sitting by herself trying to
decide what group to join
next, a goat and a sheep
playing ball asked Aby if she
wanted to play.
They did not have expensive
feathers like the swans, nor
were they as good at playing
as the horses. But they were
more fun than the cows and
they did not ask Aby to do
anything she did not want to
do. Aby felt something good
inside her which she had not
felt in quite a while.
One day while Aby was on her
way to play with the goat and
sheep, she noticed a fox
attacking a little chicken. No
one cared to do anything. The
swans turned away, the
horses kept playing, the cows
just watched and the DUCKs
started cheering for the fox.
Suddenly, Aby ran towards
the chicken and pulled the fox
off her. The fox clawed and
growled at Aby, but Aby stood
between the chicken and fox
and kept the fox from hurting
the chicken.
The fox knew he could not push
Aby around so he ran away.
All the chickens and even the
DUCKs cheered. Even though
Aby was in pain from the
scratches, she still felt great
inside.
Over time Aby noticed that
whenever she helped the
sheep, the chickens, the
goats or the other animals,
she felt great knowing she
made someone happy.
She also noticed that animals
respected her for making that
extra effort to help them. The
chickens and DUCKs looked
up to Aby and the cows
thought she was cool.
The horses would throw the ball
to Aby once in a while, and
even a swan would talk to
her, when the other swans
were not around. Aby was
happy.
Aby finally realized that she
did not have to belong to a
group to be respected and
happy.
She realized that the best
way to be happy is
Always Be Yourself, and
everyone knew that ABY is not a Person In Gangs.
The End!
