Elderly people in our society should be people who are valued instead of mistreated.

What Type of elders get abused?

• Could start as early as age 60• Could be completely healthy• Could be mentally/physically sick• Could suffer from memory loss

Who abuses the elderly?

• Most examples are family related.• Usually adult children.• Could also be adult grandchildren, nieces,

nephews, and stepchildren.

The most common types of abuse are..

• Financial• Mental harm• Physical harm• Threats• Disrespect

How elders should be treated.

• Always with respect.• Financial situations should always be handled

properly.• The family should always make sure an elder

relative has a safe place to live.

What you can do to help

• Take the time to talk and listen to an elder who are related or unrelated to you.

• Show an interest in a hobby they might be interested in.

• Always pay attention to any abuse that could be going on in you're family.
