On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we would like to invite you to the 2014 Update in
Oncology with special focus on Upper GI and HPB cancers to be held on 19 and 20 April, 2014 at
Hotel Shangri-La,New Delhi.
Cancer treatment is evolving rapidly especially so in the last two decades.In this era of minimally
invasive surgery oncologic safety of laparoscopic and robotic surgery in upper GI and pancreatic
cancers is a domain worth exploring. Radiation modalities are upgraded from conventional
techniques to IGRT & the use of Transarterial radio embolization. Chemotherapy protocols have
substantially changed to incorporate targeted agents like, Sorafenib, Erlotinib & Herceptin etc. In
addition to all these, there is an ever expanding role of diagnostic and palliative procedures like
EUS,TACE & Luminal Stenting etc.
In this edition of Update in Oncology, we have selected topics of Upper GI & HPB Cancers to be
discussed and debated through lectures, discussions and interactive multidisciplinary team
(MDT) case based panel discussions using voting pads.
We will additionally have top international speakers from Europe, North America and India, and
this year we hope to have a highly interactive approach to selected papers including posters.
