    212yards of 54-inch-wide moir

    (for table runner and four

    place mats)

    4 yards of 44-inch-wide

    coordinating cotton 3

    4yard of 60-inch-wide gold

    mesh, tulle or netting 1

    2yard of gold satin

    23yard of 90-inch-wide cotton

    batting

    1 yard of paper-backed fusible web

    1 yard of tear-away stabilizer

    All-purpose sewing thread to

    match fabrics

    Black and black/gold serger threads

    Metallic embroidery thread

    Bobbin thread

    Temporary spray adhesive

    14-inch bias tape maker

    Bias tape iron

    5mm fusible web stripping

    2 tassels

    36 gold 8mm beads

    2 gold berry-type floral picks

    INSTRUCTIONS

    Allow 14 inch for seams unless

    otherwise stated. Stitch all pieces right

    For leaf templates, trace each full-

    size leaf pattern on cardboard and

    cut out.

    Table Runner & Place Mats

    Cutting

    From moir fabric, cut two pieces

    each 12 inches x 54 inches for table

    runner.

    From moir fabric, cut eight pieces

    each 12 inches x 18 inches for

    place mats.

    From cotton batting, cut one piece

    12 inches x 54 inches for table

    runner, cut four pieces each 12

    inches x 18 inches for place mats.

    To create end points on each cut

    piece, mark and trim short edges

    as shown in Illustration.

    From gold satin, following bias

    tape maker directions and 5mm

    fusible web stripping, cut and

    make two yards of 14-inch fusible

    bias trim.

    Tablecloth & Napkins Cutting

    From coordinating cotton fabric,

    cut one piece 44 inches x 66 inchesfor tablecloth center panel, cut two

    pieces each 11 inches x 66 inches

    for tablecloth side panels.

    From coordinating cotton fabric,

    cut four pieces each 18 inches

    square for napkins.

    Centerpiece Cutting

    From moir fabric, cut two pieces

    each 12 inches x 27 inches.

    From gold mesh, cut two pieces

    each 12 inches x 27 inches.

    Table Runner Assembly

    1.Remove paper backing from bias

    trim. For front, using photo as a

    guide, mark vine placements on right

    side of one moir table runner piece.

    Fuse bias trim in place.

    2.Apply spray adhesive to wrong

    side of table runner front piece.

    Smoothing in place as you work,

    attach 54-inch piece of batting to

    tacky side of table runner front.

    3.Using gold thread in needle and

    bobbin thread in bobbin, stitch edges

    of bias in place.

    4.Using cardboard template and

    spacing leaves about 1 inch apart,

    trace 13 holly leaf appliqus on tear-

    away stabilizer. Using spray

    adhesive, attach gold mesh to

    untraced side of stabilizer. Using

    gold thread, straight stitch along

    outline and across center line of

    each leaf. Cut leaves apart at least 12

    inch away from stitching line.

    5. Working with one leaf at a time,

    arrange as desired along bias trim

    on right side of table runner front

    with traced side of stabil izer up.

    Using gold thread, zigzag over

    stitching lines of holly leaf appliqu.

    Remove stabilizer. Trim excess fabric

    from edges of leaves.

    6.Stitch table runner pieces to-

    gether, leaving an opening for turning

    on one long edge. Trim corners.

    Turn. Press raw edges of opening to

    inside. Hand sew opening closed.Topstitch 14inch from outer edge of

    table runner.

    7.Sew one bead and one tassel

    to point at each end of table runner.

    Sew three-bead clusters over end

    of each gold bias vine on front of

    table runner.

    Place Mat Assembly

    2.Sew a three-bead cluster at ends

    of leaves (see photo).

    Tablecloth Assembly

    1.Matching edges, serge each side

    panel to center panel, forming a

    square piece. Press seams toward

    outer edges.

    2.Fold square piece in quarters. To

    mark a quarter circle on the folded

    piece, measure out from corner fold

    32 inches with yardstick and mark

    fabric. Keeping end of yardstick at

    center fold, move opposite end over

    about 112inches and make another

    mark at 32 inches. Continue in this

    manner across fabric. Cut through all

    layers of fabric along marked lines.

    3.Thread upper looper of serger

    with metallic serger thread, thread

    lower looper with black serger

    thread. Thread needle with matching

    all-purpose thread. Set serger for

    rolled hem.

    4.Serge raw edge of fabric circle.

    Serge raw edge of each napkin. Place

    a drop of seam sealant at each corner

    of napkins, let dry completely before

    trimming tails at corners.

    Centerpiece Assembly

    1.Using cardboard template andspacing leaves about 1 inch apart,

    trace 12 large holly leaf patterns on

    wrong side of one 12-inch x 27-inch

    strip of moir fabric.

    2.Pin or baste both 12-inch x 27-

    inch strips of moir fabric right sides

    together with gold mesh sandwiched

    between. Stitch along each leaf outline,

    leaving bottom edge unstitched.

    3.Leaving 18-inch seam allowance,

    cut out leaves. Clip curves. Using

    tube turner and taking care to form

    each point on leaf, turn each leaf

    right side out. Carefully press, using

    pressing cloth.

    4.Attach pintuck foot. Set sewing

    machine for a 2.5mm-wide satin stitch.

    Thread machine with gold thread.

    5.Center one leaf right side up

    under pintuck foot. Insert one floral

    wire into leaf. Lower presser foot,

    making sure the wire falls into the

    center groove of the foot. Working

    over wire as you stitch, carefully

    zigzag along center of leaf. Repeat for

    each Leaf.

    6.Seal bottom edge of each leaf and

    cover wire with floral tape. Arrange

    leaves and gold floral picks into desired

    arrangement, using floral tape.

    7.Attach four adhesive surface

    protectors spaced about 1 inch apart

    to the center of glass chimney so it

    sits level on a flat surface. Add bird to

    center of arrangement and insert into

    chimney.
