Lincoln avoided hunting and fishing because he had an aversion to killing animals. He was often assumed to be lazy because of

this and no doubt he seemed unmanly growing up in an area where people needed fish and game to survive.

Lincoln’s first love was Ann Rutledge. She died of what is believed to be typhoid fever.

He then became engaged and disengaged to a woman named Mary Owens.

Ultimately, he married Mary Todd.

Robert Lincoln, the only son of Abraham Lincoln who would live to raise a family of his own, was almost killed at a train station at the start of the civil war. He slipped from a platform and would have fallen in front of the carriage, but Edwin Boothe grabbed Robert by the collar and pulled him to safety. Later, Edwin’s brother would shoot and kill Abraham Lincoln.

Sadly, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in 1865 by John Wilkes Boothe while attending the theater.
