Aft er acquiring vast experience in the nauti cal

sector, beginning from the 1980’s, CAN has

decided to enter the recreati onal vehicle

market, introducing its range of cookers, gas

stoves with ovens, sinks and other accessories

at the latest editi on of the Caravan Salon

in Düsseldorf. For years CAN (Costruzioni

Accessori Nauti ci - Nauti cal Accessories

Constructi on) has been the supplier for

the best known and blazoned Italian and

internati onal ship builders. The Brescia-based

company’s products are factory installed as

original equipment on luxurious yachts, sail

boats and motor boats in Italy, Germany,

France, Scandinavia, Greece, Spain and Turkey.

Aft er thirty years in the nauti cal market and

a successful history thanks to consistently

perfecti ng the use of new producti on

technologies and the skill and passion of the

owner, Mauro Bellini and his sons, Lorenzo

and Fabio, CAN also approaches the world of

outdoor tourism. As is well known, there are

many points in common between the nauti cal

sector and the recreati onal vehicle sector,

but only one common denominator: quality

and reliability of the accessories. A year from

its début in this exciti ng marketplace, CAN

From boating to the outdoor

Can enters the recreational vehicle marketAfter thirty years of experience in the nautical sector, the company from Brescia docks in the world of recreational

vehicles with a well structured offer of cooking surfaces, stoves, sinks and gas ovens for factory installation

already boasts supplying important players

in the sector such as Knaus, Westf alia and

the Italian Giotti line and Wingamm. But this

is only the beginning. “In the recreati onal

vehicle sector we have strengthened our

presence in England, Holland, Belgium and

France thanks to a network of skilled and

moti vated sales agents who allow us to off er

our products successfully in these markets -

states Lorenzo Bellini, son of the owner and

sales manager of the company - Beginning

from last September, our products are also

distributed in countries in the far east such

The two new portable barbecues are called BQ

2988 and BQ 2989, designed for boati ng and

camping which were introduced for the fi rst ti me

in the world at METS (Marine Equipment Trade

Show) in Amsterdam by the Italian company,

CAN (Costruzione Accessori Nauti ci - Nauti cal

Accessories Constructi on). The two models have

identi cal characteristi cs and dimensions, but one

operates with a standard gas bott le while the

other (BQ2988) operates with 230 and 450

gram Gaz Camping bott les (models CV270

and CV470). Made from stainless steel,

they are the perfect marriage of design and

practi cality: rounded shapes in the upper

and lower angles, ergonomic handles and a

range of useful accessories to aid the chef on

duty. The sturdy, electrowelded grille, also

made from stainless steel, is easily extractable

thanks to its two handles, covers the enti re cooking

surface (50 x 30 cm) and has four feet which provide

a resti ng base even outside of the designed lodging.

In the front part of the BBQ a shelf is inserted

(opti onal) which can be used to hold the fork or

brush necessary to positi on or baste cuts of meat or

fi sh. In the right side of the same metallic support

there are two more circular trays where salt and

other spices can be placed. A few centi metres from

the resti ng base of the BBQ there is a convenient

extractable drip tray for the cooking grease which

can also be used to recover liquids to be used for

sauces and gravies) or to avoid emission of smoke

and vapours, pouring a layer of water in ahead of

ti me. The system consists of, besides the shell and

the accessories, a 4.5 kw burner, a piezoelectric

igniter and a safety thermocouple (for interrupti on

of gas distributi on if the fl ame exti nguishes). The

model with portable gas bott les also includes a

regulator which is built into the gas connector and

a knob with a valve.

CAN launches a glass works: machinery for glass pane works (cutti ng, boring, ray grinding) for

bevels and corners, tempering furnaces and tanks for silk screening. In other words, an enti re

line to manufacture its tops. And so, in additi on to gas and tap fi tti ngs, the company from

Puegnago del Garda completes its internal producti on capability. Aft er having reached positi ons

of leadership in supplying boat yards, CAN has recently also entered the recreati onal vehicle

market thanks to notable points of contact among producti ons. In the open air tourism sector,

Mauro Bellini and sons manufacture accessories for factory installati on on an internati onal level.

Having glass works machinery available, CAN can boast even greater fl exibility, not having to wait

for third party producti on ti mes. The camper manufacturers or boat yards can therefore count

on very quick turnaround ti mes, not only during the design and prototype phase, but also in the

producti on phase. And in ti mes when camper and boat manufacturing takes place in reduced lots

and with short term scheduling, the fl exibility of a supplier is a determining strategic factor.

CAN also incorporates glass works

CAN, which has been operati ng

in the nauti cal market from three

generati ons is known for the

reliability of its products, the quality

of the materials and the capability

of comprehending daily nauti cal life

and translati ng it into concrete and

innovati ve designs. Today, more

than ever, the heart and mind of the

company are represented by Mauro

Bellini, supported by the more and

more determining contributi on of his

sons, Lorenzo and Fabio who, together

with their father, place their endless

creati vity and contagious passion at

the service of the company in order to

ti e the CAN brand more and more to

the world of stainless steel accessories.

In 2009 CAN decided to take on a new

challenge, introducing the CAMPER/

CAMPING sector into its range of

products, thereby entering new and

sti mulati ng markets. And so, the Bellini

family has enriched and diversifi ed

its range of products with the usual

care and att enti on. Always under the

banner of quality and consistency.

Aft er having reached an undisputed positi on of

leadership in the recreati onal vehicles sector,

CBE looks at the nauti cal sector with interest, a

department which has many points in common

with the caravan sector. For more than 35 years

the Trento based company has been a design

partner for camper and caravan manufacturers

all over the world, drawing up personalised

soluti ons which involve all aspects of the on

board electrical systems: from control panels

to distributi on panels, from batt ery chargers to

probes, outlets, switches, even to the complete

wiring of the vehicle. The design and producti on

criteria are based on some indispensable

values: safety, material quality, equipment

reliability and observance of all internati onal

standards. All of this without ever losing sight

of the practi cal aspects which involve the

clientèle: simplicity of use for the end user and

reducti on of assembly ti mes and costs for the

outf itt ers. The début in the nauti cal sector took

place with the Sessa Marine group which, at

the last boati ng show in Genoa, introduced the

new C35 Sport-Coupé, the evoluti on of the C

35 (one of the greatest successes in the history

of the Milan-based boatyard with more than

500 units sold in 10 years). «It is an excellent

start and a sti mulati ng challenge - states Dorian

Sosi, sales director for the Italian market -

The path which we have taken with the Sessa

Marine boatyard gives us the opportunity to

export the refi ned technology which belongs

to our products to the nauti cal sector also in

the future ». CBE realised a control panel for

Sessa Marine which reproduces the aestheti c

and functi onality of the previous one, but it

industrialised the producti on process. The

panel wiring is constructed directly by one of

the CBE producti on units and meets the high

quality standards which characterise the thirty

year old company. The control panel of the

C35 Sport-Coupé integrates a radio, the 12 and

220 Volt system magnetothermic switches and

two potable and waste water level indicators.

A double row of switches also allows control

of the lights, refrigerator, pumps (potable

water, WC, recovery tank, bilge), boiler, electric

oven, electrical outlets, batt ery charger and

auxiliary uti liti es. «The panel supplied to Sessa

Marine contains neither a digital display nor

sophisti cated electronics. It is a traditi onal

system, all analogue, which controls the uti liti es

of the craft and manages the electrical system.

«It is a project which has no technological

content that we normally off er the recreati onal

vehicle sector - conti nues Dorian Sosi - but

it meets a precise need of the customer in

terms of conti nuity with the previous product

without sacrifi cing the quality and reliability

of our manufacturing. With this large Italian

boatyard we hope to have the opportunity to

develop more complex products as well which

take advantage of the extraordinary potenti al

off ered by the digital fi eld and components

with microprocessors.»

First supply to Sessa Marine

CBE launches into boating CBE, leading company in electrical and electronic equipment for the caravan sector, expands its activity to the nautical sector, supplying control panels to the famed Sessa Marine boatyard

CBE is specialised in customised design of

electrical and electronic systems for the

caravan and nauti cal sectors. A strategic

partner of recreati onal vehicle manufacturers

of personalised soluti ons with cutti ng-edge

technology. Naturally, CBE has a catalogue

of systems which are already widely tested

and distributed. In parti cular there are four

control panels which cover the needs of most

motor homes built all over the world. All of the

panels in the catalogue are part of complete

systems with wiring already prepared

and specifi cally designed, which

connect batt ery charger switching,

probes, switches, detectors and outlets

to the panel. All of the components

are meti culously manufactured and

guaranteed by CBE in accordance with strict

quality standards which have allowed it to

obtain UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 certi fi cati on.

Company profi le

With more than 35 years of history,

CBE is a leading company on a

European level in the electrical and

electronic system sector as applies to

caravans and boati ng. With registered

offi ces in Trento, CBE is a design

partner for camper and caravan

manufacturers all over the world,

drawing up personalised soluti ons

which involve all aspects of the on

board electrical systems: from control

panels to distributi on box, from

batt ery chargers to probes, outlets,

switches, even to the complete wiring

of the vehicle. Quality, reliability and

safety are consistent characteristi cs

in the operati onal dynamics of CBE,

which has obtained UNI EN ISO

9001:2000 certi fi cati on.

Adopted as original equipment on the presti gious

caravans and motorhomes in the 2011 collecti on

from the Schluesselfeld factory, the new PC770-

SK is a new generati on 7” LCD touch-screen panel

which allows management, through a single

device, of all the technical systems on board

the vehicle. An intelligent control unit capable

of controlling any uti lity, operati ng directly in

parti cular situati ons (for example arresti ng the

gas system in case of leaks) and with a high level of

personalisati on to meet the needs of the user even

in terms of comfort (courtesy lights, adjustment

of the internal and external temperature sensors).

The PC770-SK control panel is part of the electrical

system designed by CBE exclusively for Concorde. In

fact, in additi on to the control module, the vehicles

are equipped with the DS560-SK distributi on box

which includes relays, protecti on fuses and signalling

LEDs for burnt fuses; the SBB-100 separator nodes

complete with batt eries parallel relay (12V - 70A) and

engine batt ery charger; 260A ampermeter node and

further electronic nodes tasked with managing the

electric step, front windscreen thermal shutt er shield

(motorhome version), gas system, Alde heati ng system

and inverter and, obviously the necessary electronic

detecti on probes for contents of the tanks. The lower

part of the screen is dedicated to the alarms which

are viewed through special red coloured icons. These

signal insuffi cient engine batt ery voltage (if lower

than 12V), cell

batt eries, diff erenti ati ng the signals

based on the voltage (if lower than 11.5 or 11.1V) and,

if necessary, acti vati ng the “Batt ery saving” feature (if

below 10.8V). The alarms are also triggered to signal:

reserve level of the fresh water tanks (if lower than

10% capacity); recovery tanks full (when fi lled to

90% of their capacity for clear water and 70% for WC

water); reserve level of the gas tank (if autonomy is

lower than 10%) and gas bott les (if low). With regard

to this, if the system recognises and identi fi es the

presence of any gas leak, it will sound an acousti c

warning and automati cally close the system valves

in order to instantly arrest any possible problem.

And there are, of course, the alarms dedicated to

any malfuncti on of some components on board. In

fact, the electric steps, the AC connecti on, the water

pump, the Alde heati ng system and the inverter are

monitored.

The industrialisati on of the producti on

processes, the careful tests on the

product realised internally by the

company (mechanical and functi onal)

and externally by laboratories for

the electromagneti c compati bility

(emissions and immunity) as well as

the consistently growing qualitati ve

standards for all the products,

allowed Project 2000 to obtain the

pass certi fi cate for mass producti on.

This is a certi fi cate which, in additi on

to the the obligati ons relati ve to

quality tests required by the law,

allows the company itself to approve

its products on an internati onal

level. Added to this result is an

eff ecti ve check implemented by the

Department of Transport, Navigati on

and Informati on and Stati sti cal

Systems, which has the obligati on

to conduct inspecti ons on every line

of the producti on plant in order to

verify the existence of provisions and

procedures aimed at ensuring that the

mass produced components conform

with the approved type. The same

department then must periodically

verify upkeep of the measures adopted

and new control plans for executi on

of tests and verifi cati ons necessary

to ensure conti nuity of producti on

conformity to the approved type.

The manufacturer must guarantee

the existence of procedures intended

to ensure an eff ecti ve control of

product conformity to the approved

type based on the requirements set

by the relevant standards which are

in conti nuous evoluti on.

Project 2000 is certifi ed

During the month of January 2011, Project

2000 doubled the fl oor space of its producti on

plant, transferring part of the machinery, the

warehouse and the assembly stati ons to a

new facility, adjacent and connected to the

original one. And so the total covered fl oor

space went from the original 1500 m2 to 3200

m2. This is an expansion which allowed the

producti on fl ows to be opti mised, rati oning

the goods handling ti mes and improving

the producti on process. At the centre of the

industrialisati on project is a cutti ng-edge

computer system which dialogues with all of

the company divisions: from the producti on

offi ce to the work stati ons where the metal

working phases are conducted (laser cutti ng,

punching, bending), to the work stati ons

dedicated to assembly and right up to the

storage warehouse and shipping department.

In fact, all of the work stati ons, have a terminal

connected to the internal network where

there are exploded views of all the products.

This way the operator can call up the drawing

or technical informati on for the arti cle which

is being processed in real ti me to verify the

producti on phases or the conformity. The

producti on offi ce, which supervises the

producti on schedules and processes, becomes

an interacti ve body capable of dialogue with

the workers, off ering support and responding

to queries. The introducti on of a system with

bar codes then allows all of the work phases

of the product to be tracked in real ti me, right

up to shipment. The warehouse has been

furnished with equipment to handle the goods

and deposit them quickly on the shelves. This

way, with the computer support which logisti cs

has introduced, Project 2000 has taken a

considerable step forward in management

of the warehouse and the outgoing goods.

The new site can also count on stylish and

tastefully furnished modern offi ces. In fact, on

the fi rst fl oor of the plant there are four offi ces

as well as a large and bright meeti ng room.

The whole fl oor also overlooks the producti on

department through a large window.

constant growth which has brought

it today to being a reference point

for producti on of retractable steps

(electric, electronic and manual),

brackets for LCD televisions and bed

Light & Comfort

This is a control unit capable of

interfacing with the camper’s lighti ng

system and it off ers an extremely

useful courtesy service. The press of a

butt on on a remote control (the anti -

theft remote or the one for centralised

keyless entry or a specifi c one provided

opti onally by Project 2000) lights up the

vehicle for 30 seconds both in the cab

and the cell. Pressing the butt on a second

ti me will open the step and also turn on

the external light. This is an extremely

useful feature when returning to the

camper at night, in the dark, in areas

which are not well lit. Light & Comfort

also interfaces with the doors (cell and

cab) and controls ti med turning on of the

lights when a door is opened or closed.

The remote control (opti onal) allows

installati on of Light & Comfort on any

type of vehicle, even very old ones, and,

thanks to the universal motors included

in the kit, allows motorisati on of the door

locks and therefore equips the camper

with centralised keyless entry...cockpit

hatches included!

Project 2000 is a conti nuously

expanding Italian company

which has only partly felt

the eff ects of the crisis

which hit the caravan sector.

Flexible producti on and the

capability of adapti ng to the

of the widespread distributi on of

to manufacture a

signifi cant quanti ty

- says Davide Nardini,

company owner - Sure,

in the last two years we have seen a

drop in orders, but the numbers

conti nue to be sati sfactory. On

the other hand, producti on

of lift system mechanisms

for front folding beds in

semi-integral vehicles has

grown. This is a

tendency which

has developed

quite a bit over the last

two years is that we have supported with a

highly innovati ve product. In fact, we

did not limit ourselves to

motorising the classic

pantograph mechanism,

but we redesigned a

completely new system

which permitt ed great

fl exibility of installati on for outf itt ers who

were able to create folding beds of any size and

shape. Also, our systems provide fl uid, silent and

precise movements in additi on to being

made from reliable and sturdy

components. Our primary

business is also the

micro spotlights, external spotlights, linear

lights, fl exible spotlights, ceiling lamps, basic

modules, accessories and replacements)

has a self-suffi cient space and will be

connected to the corresponding part of the

catalogue. Also, each sector that Tecnoled

operates in (motor caravans, boati ng, home

and work) will have its own independent

site, but connected by a graphic common

denominator. On June 1st 2010 the secti on

dedicated to motor caravans was published

in multi ple languages (Italian, English,

German and French). Among the dynamic

parts of the site, the part dedicated to news

is updated periodically in all four languages.

The technical details on LED technology are

useful, already present in the “Infoled” menu

and the photo gallery is representati ve with

images of some noteworthy installati ons.

symbols and illustrati ons. The categories

have been redefi ned and the products

reorganised in a rati onal way so that

Exceeding the limits of traditi onal lighti ng, reducing

consumpti on, increasing durati on over ti me of the

light sources and providing motor caravans and

caravan manufacturers worldwide with the widest

range of soluti ons, both standard and personalised.

These are some of the objecti ves that Tecnoled has

pursued since 2005, the year in which the brand

from Pontassieve, just a few kilometres from

Florence, entered the LED market. The greater

challenge, however, was combining technology

and design. And thus Plexy was born, a ground-

breaking, innovati ve line. Tecnoled gave birth to

Plexy to provide original equipment lighti ng for the

main camper manufacturers. But, providing them

in the proper way: according to the customer’s

requirements, according to the furnishing taste,

according to the luminous power needed and aft er

careful study of the peculiariti es of the vehicle’s

electrical system. «Plexy is a line which lends itself

easily to various functi ons. It is adaptable - explains

Alberto Saini, one of the two owners - we have

countless possibiliti es for soluti ons: with sati n-

fi nished, opal and transparent screens. We have

the know-how to process Plexiglass however we

want it and to insert logos and brands. We created

the ceiling lamp both for primary and secondary

lighti ng, integrati ng a dimmer switch. In other

words, we are able to match the best aestheti c and

functi onal characteristi cs of the Plexiglass lamp

with the technological innovati ons provided by the

LEDs: a sought aft er mix which brings any budget in

line with a Plexy product”. Plexy has a wide range

of possibiliti es in its price list with mirror, mono

sati n-fi nished, opal, transparent elements, various

LED technologies (Super Bright, Smd, Power) and

diff erent prices. More than forty standard models

are in the catalogue, but above all a great amount

of experience in personalisati on of the products

and the desire to represent, not only a supplier, but

fi rst and foremost a technical and strategic partner

to caravan manufacturers in the design of exclusive

lighti ng systems.
