M/s. RgCON Services was incepted as a small consultancy firm by our Founder Late Sri. R.

Giridhar in the year 1995. Mr. R. Giridhar was a 1st class graduate and University Rank Holder in

Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Warangal (erstwhile Regional

Engineering College). After graduation he joined M/s. Ferro Alloys Corporation as Asst. Manager

and rose to the position of Manager in 5 years before leaving FACOR to go on and work as General

Manager & Project Manager in Tashi Group, Bhutan; Nava-Bharat Group & GMR Group among

others. He was in charge of setting up new Ferro Alloy Plants of Nava Bharat group in Andhra

Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh & Orissa and expansion of plant of GMR group at Tekkali, Andhra

Pradesh. At the very beginning, the consultancy work was confined to problem solving of Ferro

Alloy Plants or modifications & up-grading of Ferro Alloy plants in Goa, Burdwan and Orissa. Full-

fledged consultation, EPC and Turnkey works for green field Ferro Alloys plants along with its

pollution control system and material handling systems was started in 1998 when several green field

Ferro Alloy plants came up in North Eastern states especially Meghalaya and also Durgapur belt of

West Bengal. Today, after more than 10 years after the untimely demise of our charismatic founder

and leader, we stand with all humility as one of India’s foremost consultancy firms for Ferro Alloys,

Auxilliary projects, General Engineering, QA/QC, Mineral Beneficiation and Agglomeration,

Refractory works.

We are based at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh and are pleased to introduce ourselves as

India’s leading Ferro Alloy and Allied Industry / Projects Designers, Consultants and EPC Suppliers

with a proven and established track record. We have also taken up and successfully completed

assignments abroad in countries such as Bangladesh, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Zambia. We are

also the front-runners of some of the proposed projects in India, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran,

Bangladesh and Malaysia.

We have commissioned 1 furnace and are currently executing and nearing commissioning the

second furnace, which is a prestigious project for Tata Steel Ltd., Gopalpur; Odisha in India with

value approx. 500 Million Indian Rupees of our scope of supplies alone with total project value

running into approx. 8 Billions of Indian Rupees. We have recently commissioned India’s first

Titanium Slag Project for Saraf Agencies Pvt. Ltd., Chattrapur, Odisha. We are in the final stages of

booking orders for SiC manufacturing projects in Saudi Arabia and Oman and will become the First

Indian Company to supply SiC furnaces anywhere in the world upon order finalization, which is

expected to happen soon.

weighing, batching and feeding systems and finished goods handling system etc.

b. Utility buildings like Administrative building. Welfare building, Canteen, Laboratory and

maintenance buildings like mechanical workshop, electrical shop, auto garage etc.

c. About 800 residential quarters of various types in three colonies for officers, staff and

workers.

October 1996 from the Group since the Project was then shelved because of the

I bring to the table my 35 years of experience in Ferro alloys sector starting from 1977

onwards. I was associated with many Ferro Alloys plants construction works ranging from 7.5 MVA

to 45 MVA capacities and deeply involved in its operation and maintenance work. I worked with

major Ferro Alloys producers like IMFA, FACOR, ROHIT, HIND METALS & ADHUNIK METALLIKS who

are pioneers in the field of various types of Ferro Alloys products in India.

PRESENT STATUS

Presently I am working as Head of Project Planning & Coordination with Rg CON Services.

MY OBJECTIVES

To provide Engineering support to the project planning, execution and testing &

commissioning of the plant.

• To provide quality work utilizing ling field experience and on time delivery of the project

10 MVA Furnaces proposed to produce Silico Manganese & Ferro Chrome.

• Worked as Sr. General Manager (Ferro Alloys Division) in M/s Adhunik Metallics Ltd.

since August 2008 to August 2010 which is having 3 nos. of 9.0 MVA Furnace producing

Silico Manganese & Ferro Chrome. I was engaged with third furnace project activities as well

as operational work of other Furnaces.

• Worked in the capacity of Sr. General Manager (Project & Operation) at Hind Metals &

Industries (P) Ltd., Orissa since Sept-2005 to August-2008 which is having two nos. of 9

MVA ferro alloys furnace producing Silico Manganese since April 2007. It was my Green

field project completed within one and half years of time with a backdrop of power problem.

I was total in charge of its operation and looking after plants expansion project and leading

a group of Engineers, Technicians from Civil, Mechanical and Electrical field. Who are actively

participating in project implementation & maintenance?

• Served to M/s Rohit Ferro Tech Ltd., Bishnupur & Jajpur Road as “General Manager

(Engineering)” looking after its project and maintenance of furnaces.

During my stay at M/s Rohit Ferro Tech Ltd. I have completed & commissioned their 3rd 9

MVA furnace and looked after 1st & 2nd furnace maintenance work with proper planning &

coordination and increased productivity.

• Served with M/s Adhunik Meghalaya Steels (P) Ltd., Meghalaya since Feb 2002 to Aug

2003 as Deputy General Manager (Project & Maintenance) looking after its ferro alloys

project.

During my tenure at M/s Adhunik Groups I was well acquainted with project planning,

coordination, equipment procurement, inspection of mechanical & electrical equipments

and finalization etc.

• Served with M/s Ferro Alloys Corp. Ltd. (FACOR), Randia, Bhadrak, Orissa with a position

of “Asst. General Manager (Maintenance)” looking after overall maintenance of both

mechanical and electrical equipments of the plant.

During my tenure at FACOR, Bhadrak, Orissa since 1982 I was associated with its project

implementation, up gradation of various equipments and modernization works as and when

it comes. During at FACOR in 1991 to 1992 I was part of their project team for installation &

commissioning of 10.5 MW x 2 Diesel based Captive Power Plant supplied by MANB&W and

Siemens Germany.

• As a in charge of maintenance section in FACOR I was experienced with planning &

preparation of maintenance schedule of various Mechanical and Electrical equipment of the

plant including import substitute of indigenous machineries.

• At FACOR I was a part of implementation programme of ISO– 9002 system in Engineering

Dept. and participating in various ISO- 9000 standard awareness programme time to time.

• Severed with M/s Indian Metals Ferro Alloys Ltd. (IMFA) Therubali, Orissa since 1977 to

1982.

During my tenure of service at IMFA, Therubali I was experienced in the construction of their

3rd 48 MVA furnace apart from looking after other two furnace maintenance and operational

work.

• As an Engineer of process industry, I am well acquainted with erection & maintenance of

mechanical equipments such as oil hydraulic system of holding & lifting devices, centrifugal

and Batching systems with latest models based on SWIREX modules of Siemens etc.

• Fully experienced in the erection, installation and commissioning of 132 KV substations,

Industries (P) Ltd., Meramandali, Dhenkanal, Orissa with record time in adverse working

atmosphere including Tender finalization and procurement action of various equipments

required for the plant.

• Successful installed 132 KV Looping Loop out substation with 132/11KV substation and

MRSS at M/s Hind Metals & Industries (P) Ltd.

• Successfully installed & commissioned 3rd 9 MVA furnaces of M/s Rohit Ferro Tech,

Bishnupur, WB with record time of 9 months.

• Layout & concept total planning of 4 x 16.5 MVA furnace and plant building of M/s Rohit

Ferro Tech Ltd. Jajpur Road, Orissa finalized based on my long experience.

• Completed successfully the installation & commissioning of 7.5 MVA & 9 MVA furnace and

its related equipments including procurement coordination at M/s Adhunik Meghalaya

Steels (P) Ltd. Meghalaya including its 132/33 KV substation.

• The modernization of new Raw Material Handling and Electronic Batching system at M/s

Assistant, in Electrical Maintenance Dept. and was entrusted with the responsibility of

looking after Preventive Maintenance, Breakdown Maintenance and Trouble Shooting.

Subsequently was assigned to supervise the erection of Weighing System (Toledo, W.

Germany), 80/25 T EOT Crane and Furnace Controls.

1970-74 : Was promoted as Senior Technical Assistant with the overall responsibility of maintaining

various electrical equipment viz., furnace transformers, circuit breakers, HT capacitors, raw

material and finished product handling systems, EOT Cranes, pumps, compressors etc.

These responsibilities were discharged as a deputy, reporting directly to the Ferro Chrome

Plant in-charge.

1975-96 : In recognition of the services rendered, was promoted as Asst. Engineer and was made

plant-in-charge of the dept. with the overall responsibility for the maintenance

operations. In the process of organizational restructuring was designated as Sr. Deputy

Manager (Elect. Maint.)

1996 till 06-03-2002 : Promoted as Manager (Elect. Maint.) with the exclusive O & M responsibility

of the 132 KV/11 KV substation consisting of 3 transformers with 25 MVA capacity each,

their HT/LT equipment like circuit breakers, isolators with their control and protective

gear. The company’s Captive Power Plant with a configuration of 3 x 10 MW Diesel

Generators was also entrusted for operation and maintenance.

From 06-03-2002 : Attained Superannuation and started associate consultancy with M/s RgCON

SERVICES, DWARAKANAGAR, VISAKHAPATNAM – 530 016. looking after Electrical

and Instrumentation Design Wing.

TECHNO – MANAGERIAL ACHIEVEMENTS :

1. The original circuit of the imported Toledo weighing system was consisting of

initiators/oscillators, magnetic amplifiers, latch relays, rotary steppers for facilitating the

feeding of raw materials into the weigh hoppers from the day bins via EMV feeders and

discharging of the same after attaining the predetermined weights onto a battery of belt

conveyors into the furnace hoppers. The initiators/oscillators etc. were substituted with

simple magnetic switches and mechanically latched contactors for serving the purpose by

suitably redesigning the entire circuitry. This innovative method besides being cost effective

also obviated the company’s need to import. Moreover, this facilitated easy handling of the

system through delegation thereby considerably reducing the downtime.

2. The failure of circuit breaker to trip on reverse power resulted in the breakage of the crank

shaft of one of the engines due to the motoring action. It was observed that the

breaker’s spring got overcharged and prevented the mechanism from tripping. As the other

engines were running in parallel to the grid, power was drawn by the engine under

reference. The spring charging circuitry of the breaker was originally designed in such a way

that the spring gets recharged after every on/off operation. The circuitry was modified to

ensure that the spring gets charged only once after the breaker switches OFF, to prevent

overcharging in the ON position of the breaker. One time charging of the spring is sufficient

for an OFF/ON/OFF operation without any effect on the reliability of the system.

MANAGERIAL CREDENTIALS:

In the capacity of the Head of the Elect. Maint. Dept. of the Captive Power Plant and 132

KV/ 11 KV substations, it was ensured that harmonious industrial relations were maintained.

Planning and coordination with the production departments for effective preventive

maintenance and breakdown/shutdown maintenance were carried out as a part of the

responsibility. Adequate safetymeasures for the personnel under control were ensured at all

times with zero-accident level.
