At the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) we offer a number of options for postgraduate professionals seeking the specialised knowledge and skills that will allow them to move forward in today’s competitive world in the shortest possible timeframe, but who aren’t necessarily looking to enrol for a Masters level program yet.

CERTIFICATES OF PROFICIENCYFor professionals who are looking to develop skills in a specific technical or practical discipline over a short time scale, UOWD’s Certificates of Proficiency are ideal. Delivered over the course of just 13 weeks, students can study a range of subjects that are offered by our Faculties of Business and Engineering and Information Sciences.

PROGRESSION TO FUTUREPOSTGRADUATE PROGRAMSUpon completion of the chosen subject students are awarded a Certificate of Proficiency and an official academic transcript. This transcript can then be used as credit towards future postgraduate programs.

POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATESUOWD’s range of Postgraduate Certificates are perfect for professionals who are seeking to up-skill their knowledge and progress in their career. Consisting of four subjects, a Postgraduate Certificate can usually be completed in two semesters or less.

UOWD’s Postgraduate Certificates are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education – Higher Education Affairs, through the Commission of Academic Accreditation, meaning that the qualification is recognised throughout the UAE and internationally. Our Postgraduate Certificatesare also quality assured by UOW Australia, which isregistered with the Australian Tertiary Education and Quality Standards Agency (TEQSA), the national regulator of higher education in Australia. Upon graduation, studentscan choose either a certificate from UOWD or a certificate from the UOW Australia.

PROGRESSION INTO MASTERSUpon successful completion of a UOWD Postgraduate Certificate, students can enrol into the corresponding Master’s program and may be eligible to be granted creditfor the four subjects studied under the Postgraduate Certificate.

CLASSES TO FIT AROUND YOURCOMMITMENTSAll Certificates of Proficiency and Postgraduate Certificateclasses are held from 6:00pm - 9:30pm, Sunday to Thursday, with occasional Saturday classes and are designed to fit around work commitments. A Certificate of Proficiencycan be completed in 13 weeks, whilst a Postgraduate Certificate will take you two semesters to complete (subject to completion of two subjects per semester).

WORLD-CLASS FACULTYUOWD’s Faculty of Business provides a wealth of academicand professional expertise from across the globe. All full-time professors hold a PhD degree and are active researchers in their specialist field. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTSApplicants must have completed a Bachelor degree (or equivalent) at an accredited institution of higher education and have achieved the minimum grades for entry to both Certificates of Proficiency and Postgraduate Certificates. All instruction at UOWD is carried out in English and you will need to demonstrate an adequate level of English language proficiency in order to enrol. This Certificate of Proficiency addresses key issues and problems associated with managing across cultural boundaries in a context of increasing globalisation. You will study cross-cultural communication, technology, comparative management practices, managing with multicultural policies and the challenges cultural differences pose for international and global managers.

If you’re interested in understanding the motives of consumers during the purchase of products and services, this Certificate of Proficiency is ideal for you. You will investigate sociological and psychological concepts and apply them specifically to the behaviour of consumers in order to learn how to make more effective marketing decisions, using real-life business case studies to help you to apply theory to practice.

This Certificate provides students with an understanding of the main theoretical frameworks and conceptual tools used to analyse organisations. The subject analyses organisations from different perspectives, using metaphorsof bureaucracy, contingency, political systems and cultures to provide anin-depth understanding of organisational theory. Scholarships and GrantsUOWD provides a range of scholarships which offer financial support to new and existing students at the commencement of each semester (unless otherwise stated). Whilst it does not cover living and other study-related expenses, it certainly reduces the financial pressure ensuring you enjoy a less stressful student experience.

Scholarships• Outstanding Academic Excellence Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to applicants based on academic merit and who comply with the necessary requirements. It offers the recipients with a bursary ranging from 15% to 25% of their tuition fees for the duration of their studies.*

• Sports Scholarships - Adam Gilchrist Sports Award This award, named after Australian cricketer and UOW Brand Ambassador, Mr Adam Gilchrist AM, is awarded to two recipients at either undergraduate or postgraduate level, in the Autumn semester (which begins in September). Tuition grantsUOWD offers a number of grants that provide discounted rates on program fees ranging from 5% to 20% of annualtuition costs.

Available tuition grants:

• Family Tuition Grants Immediate family members enrolling simultaneously at UOWD are eligible for tuition fee grants.*

• Alumni Tuition Grants New or returning students may qualify from one of the following Alumni Tuition Grants:

Alumni Grant An Alumni grant will be awarded to students who have graduated from a UOWD undergraduate or postgraduate degree program and wish to enrol in a subsequent degree program at UOWD.*

Family of Alumni Tuition Grant A tuition grant is available on annual tuition fees for students who have at least one family member who has graduated from a degree program (undergraduate or postgraduate) from UOWD only (not applicable to UOW Australia graduates).*

The Family of Alumni grant is available at the start of every semester and students must apply for the grant when they submit their application for Admission form.

• A copy of your UAE ID card (if applying from within the UAE)
