ABOUT THE ALMANAC
It is important that the students and parents read the Almanac together and understand the contents fully. This Almanac aims at establishing an invaluable link between teachers, students and parents. It is intended to serve:
1. As a all-in-one ready reckoner and planner for students; and
2. As a means of communication between parents and the school;
• To keep parents abreast with what their children are studying at school and
curricular progress of their wards;
• To keep parents informed about home assignments;
• To serve as a handy reference with regard to the student’s schedule; And
• To be used for convenient, day-to-day correspondence (related to academics
and conduct) between parents and the school staff
Students should ensure that they bring this Almanac to school every day, use it productively and treat it with care.
Parents should review current pages daily and must countersign and respond to any comments, which may be made periodically by members of the faculty. Parents should also countersign home assignments to signify their completion and provide an explanation if home assignments are not completed for any good reason.
As a matter of policy, students will get home tasks on subjects they are familiar with. These tasks are intended as revision exercises, to reinforce what is learned by students in school and must be undertaken by students entirely on their own, without adult supervision. Students should seek the help of their teachers at school on the following day if they encounter any difficulties.
Comments made by parents in the Almanac should be productive and confined strictly to the subject of the student’s work and his/her conduct. All other matters concerning the school should be dealt with separately and either conveyed personally or through separate letters addressed to the Head of the school.

PLEDGE FOR AN ABUSE FREE WORLD FOR CHILDREN’I am proud to be an Indian. The great heritage and culture of my country always
influences and gives me direction. It is my duty to be aware of the fundamental
rights & duties and the Child Rights guaranteed by the Constitution of India.
To live with self esteem and dignity is my fundamental right.
I will not tolerate any type of abusive activities that occur anywhere against me
as well as against other children who are my sisters and brothers. I will always
be in the forefront to report any such instances to the parents, authorities and
the police. This is my duty and responsibility. Since an abuse and exploitation
free childhood and world is necessary for my future, I solemnly affirm that
I will always stand for the same.

MAKE ME A CHANNEL OF YOUR PEACE(i) Make me a channel of your peace
Where there is hatred, let me sow your love
Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord
Where there is doubt, true faith in you.
Chorus : Oh, Master, grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
(ii) Make me a channel of your peace
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
In giving to all men that we receive
And in dying that we’re born to eternal life.
COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS1. When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged thinking all is lost; Count your many blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done. Ch: Count your blessings, name them one by one, Count your blessings, see what God hath done; Count your blessings, name them one by one, Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.
2. Are you even burdened with a load of care? Does the load seem heavy you are called to bear? Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly. And you will be singing as the days go by. CH.
GREAT INDEED ARE YOUR WORKSCh: Great indeed are your works, O Lord Now and ever more. (2)
1. The universe, night and day, Tells of all your wonders, You are our life and our light, We shall praise you always.
2. You are the path which we tread, You will lead us onward, From every corner of earth, All the nations gather.
SHOWERS OF BLESSINGThere shall be showers of blessing,
This is the promise of love.
There shall be seasons refreshing
Sent from God above.
Ch: Showers of blessing
Showers of blessing we need
Mercy drops round us are falling
But for the showers we plead.
There shall be showers of blessing,
Send them upon us, O God.
Grant to us now a refreshing
Come and honour thy word.
GOD MAKE MY LIFE A LITTLE LIGHT1. God make my life a little light, Within the world to
glow, A little flame that burneth bright, Wherever I may go.
2. God make my life a little flower, That giveth joy to all, Content to bloom in native bower, Although the place be small.
3. God make my life a little song, That comforteth the sad, That helpeth others to be strong, And makes the singer glad.

All together as we sing our song, joyfully. Here we are, Joined together as we pray, we’ll always be.
1. Join we now as friends, And celebrate the brotherhood we share, all as one. Keep the fire burning, kindle it with care, and we’ll all join in and sing.
2. Glorify the Lord with all our voices, Show him we’re sincere by all our deeds. Shout the joys of freedom everywhere, And we’ll all join in and sing.

I JUST KEEP TRUSTING MY LORDI just keep trusting my Lord As I walk along, I just keep trusting my Lord And he gives me a song. Though the storm clouds darken the sky O’er the heavenly trail, I just keep trusting my Lord He will never fail. He’s a faithful friend. Such a faithful friend I can count on him To the very end. Though the storm clouds darken the sky O’er the heavenly trail, I just keep trusting my Lord He will never fail.

ROLE OF PARENTS / GUARDIANS:
Parents/Guardians are aware of the fact that their help and co-operation are needed for the building of sound
character in pupils. Their children must be made to realize that a well-ordered and disciplined way of life
is as important at home as in school. They are, therefore, earnestly requested to see that the rules of the school are strictly observed.
Parents/Guardians can play their important and responsible roles by:
• developing in their children the habit of punctuality at school.
• ensuring that their children come neatly dressed to school.
• giving importance to preparation of lessons and completion of home work under parental guidance.
• persuading them to read the books issued to them.
• encouraging their children to take part in the activities of the school.
• signing all tests/examination papers, report cards etc., and entries made in their ward’s almanac, whether satisfactory or not.
• informing the Principal of their child’s absence for any reason, within a week.
• intimating the school of any change of address or telephone number.
• mentioning the Std., Section and G.R. No. of the child when communicating with the school.
• cooperating with school staff and traffic wardens on duty.
• avoiding interaction with students or teachers during school hours without the sanction of the authorities.
• keeping their children at home when infected by some contagious disease, till the danger of the infection has passed (for at least a fortnight).
• ensuring that their children leave the school premises not later than fifteen minutes after the closure of school.
• visiting the Principal only on a working day, within the stipulated hours.
• obtaining the Principal’s permission before engaging the staff of the school for private tuition.

HOMEWORK POLICY OF ISWK
At ISWK, all students are expected to do homework regularly, for most subjects. Our aim is to foster a culture where students and parents value homework and understand its contribution to students’ success as learners.
Purpose of Homework:
The main purpose of homework is to support and encourage students to develop independent study habits, organizational skills, time-management and self-discipline. Homework also helps the students to establish a firm grasp of the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic work. (Three R’s)
Teachers of ISWK try to make homework stimulating rather than a reception of the day’s in-class work. They monitor homework progress and communicate with the parents regularly.
Types of Homework:Homework could take a variety of forms as listed below:
Preparation work to be completed in class — e.g. reading an article, making notes, listening to news, etc.
Extended work - sustained writing
Research work
Number work
Projects and presentations Consolidation of acquired skills
Art / creative tasks Revision in preparation for a test/assessment
Parental involvement in their children›s homework activities is beneficial to children:
Proper parental involvement can increase the value of homework for children and it contributes sig-nificantly to better student outcomes, including higher achievement, fewer discipline problems, more positive attitudes towards school and more regular homework habits.
The following Homework Schedule is to be followed by the students of the school for this academic year: The homework given should be such that the student does the work on his / her own with the help of parental supervision.
Primary School (KG, I & II) - No Homework However, it is recommended that the students revise every-thing taught in the class on a regular basis.
Classes III - V should follow the following schedule:
Classes VI - X should follow the following schedule:
Subject Day Subject Day
English Sunday English Sunday
Mathematics Monday Mathematics Monday
EVS Tuesday EVS Tuesday
Hindi Wednesday Hindi Wednesday
Mathematics Thursday Mathematics Thursday
Duration for completing homework: Classes III : ½ hour - 45 mins Classes IV-V : 45 mins - 1 hour Classes VI-VII : 1 hour - 1 hour 15 mins Classes VIII-XII : 2 hours
Scrutiny Schedule: Every student has to submit his/her Homework in every subject at least once every 15 working days.
