In the digital world we live in today, there is a gap between emerging technologies, creating new innovative solutions for businesses and how to legally regulate different aspects of them, such as ethics, ownership of data, copyright, privacy etc. If the future lawyer and businessmen and women do not have knowledge of underlying technology, or at least have a basic understanding, how can we say that we are responsible law shapers and taking on a responsibility we are not prepared for? The next generation needs to develop the right skillset in order to become leaders within their field.

It is time to take action – Tech Academy Nordic’s two-day program, is the first step towards a more multidisciplinary education within business, law and technology in the Nordics. To build a solid base of tech-knowledge for business professionals as well as lawyers is a cornerstone in order to create regulations controlling emerging technologies for the future. It all starts with education to create an impact and understanding between different fields, mindsets and expertise at an early stage.

new and improved tech academyIn 2019 Daniel Akenine, CTO, Microsoft, Johan Andersson, Retail innovation and digitalization, Group Digital, IKEA, Markus Mild, Principal Compliance, Nasdaq, Rebecka Jacobsson, Data Scientist, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, iZettle, Helena Hallgarn & Ann Björk, Founders, Virtual Intelligence VQ, Mateo Davis, Senior Legal Counsel, Sony, amongst others joined as speakers for Tech Academy Lund. With the support of one of the top ranked law firms in the Nordics Hannes Snellman, Venturelab and the Law Faculty at Lund University the project was such a success that it gained attention from other Nordic countries and this year we are launching the new and improved program Tech Academy Nordic, inviting students from Nordic universities.

Currently, we are reaching out to invite universities and other interesting partners to join the program.

on the agenda spring 2020

The agenda for Tech Academy Nordic will include topics such as blockchain, big data and algorithmic illusions, artificial intelligence, crypto currency and smart contracts. This together with workshops and cases for the participating students.

The program will be divided into two main parts: (i) Introduction to emerging technologies and; (ii) Application and future trends with professionals and experts’ perspectives.

The collaboration is supported and funded by Venture-Lab in Lund, Sweden.

Our initiator, Linn Alfredsson, was a finalist for Legal tech innovator of the year and recognized as one of the young talents within the tech law in Sweden. She is a University of California, Berkeley School of Law alumnus and is a frequently requested speaker on the topic of law and technology. Linn is further a columnist for Legally Yours and writes on current topics and cases within tech law as well as diversity within the field of technology.
