INDEXFIGURE 6 INDEX

1. We calculate your hotel’s Rate Index for each day; your lowest BAR divided by the comp set average BAR.a. Example. If your BAR is $89.99 and the average rate of your comp set is $109.99, than your Rate Index

would be 89.99 / 109.99 = 81.81b. A Rate Index below 100 (Red) means your BAR is below the average comp set BAR.

2. A Rate Index above 100 (Green) means your BAR is above the average comp set BAR.3. The rate in the lower-left corner is the lowest rate we found in your comp set.4. The rate in the lower-right corner is the highest rate we found in your comp set.5. The Timeline also displays days where we found no availability for your hotel during our shopping.

EVENTS:

Another feature has been added to the Index tab that allows you to see events scheduled for your area.

If there is an event (listed on Eventful.com) scheduled for a date on your report then that date will be highlight a brighter green on the Index tab like so:

Click on the date for the event details:

A few things to note:

During this first launch we are only importing events with a category of "conference" that are within 15 miles of your hotel. The next update to the event data will allow a user to change categories and distances, give you full flexibility to tailor the data for your needs.

You will only be able to see events for the time period of the report you are viewing. If your report is a 90 day shop then you will only see events for those next 90 days.

WEIGHTING & FILTERING

Weighting

You can assign a weight to each competitor; this value is a percent between 0% and 100%. The weighting is utilized when the program calculates the rate index. The rate index is at its foundation a weighted average of each competitors' price compared to yours.

To access and save the weights for your report, you must be logged in to your Revcaster account.

After you log in; from the Overview tab of your report click the Modify Comp Set button:

On the next screen, scroll down to the second section where you will see each hotel in your comp set, along with a slider to select the weight percentage. The default value is 100%.

After making changes to the sliders, be sure to click Save Changes which can be found at the bottom of the page:

FilteringOn the Rate Index tab, you can filter what hotels are utilized in the index calculation.Near the bottom of the report tab you will find check boxes for each hotel in your comp set. You can remove the check from a hotel to keep their rate from being used in the index. After you have made your selections, be sure to click the Update button recalculate the rate indices.

Note: your check box selections will not be remembered if you change months/tabs or refresh the page. If you would like to have a more permanent selection in place for your index calculations you will want to utilize the Weighting option for your comp set. By setting the weight of a competitor to 0% that hotel will no longer be utilized in the index calculations on a "permanent" basis.

VOLATILITYFIGURE 7 VOLATILITY

1. The rectangle graphically shows where the middle 50% of your competitor’s rates are found. Instead of just focusing on the lowest rate they have available, we show you where the majority fall. This helps identify “loss leader” room types in your competitive set.

2. The top of the line displays the highest rate found for the hotel.3. The bottom line shows the lowest rate found for this hotel.

FILTERING BY ROOM CATEGORIES

The Room Categories Tool allows fine grained control over the parity page. It allows you to filter the Channels tab rates by room type category.

You must be signed in to your Revcaster account to setup this feature.

First, you can set up this new feature by clicking on Modify Competitor Set on the Overview Tab of the report:

Scroll to Room Categories and click Edit Room Categories:

This will open a screen where you can name your different Room Categories. You may change these names to anything you want. We suggest names that mirror the room descriptions listed on the bottom of the page (under room descriptions).

Once you have named the categories you wish to use, click submit to save these changes and the next screen will then automatically open. If it does not, then click Skip to step two:
