FUNCTION

Bolt is withdrawn by motor and thrown by spring force.

If bolt is thrown by depressing the trigger bolt manually when door is open, bolt iswithdrawn by motor immediately after trigger bolt is released to prevent the abuse oflock.

Bolt and double action bolt are deadlocked when they are thrown to their outermostposition. Double action bolt will be unlocked when bolt is withdrawn.

In the event of power failure bolt is thrown automatically, but there is always mechanicaloverride to open the lock with inside handle or with key.

Door contacts (8951; see page 12) are recommended.

CONTROL SWITCH

Continuous; bolt is retained in lock case and lock remains open.Momentary; bolt is deadlocked after an adjustable delay of 2...15 seconds.

Bolt and double action bolt are deadlocked when they are thrown to their outermost position. Double action bolt will be unlocked when bolt is withdrawn.

There is always mechanical override to open the lock with inside handle or with key.

APPLICATIONS

The locks are especially suitable for use in the interior (and exterior) doors of com-mercial premises, apartment buildings, industrial buildings etc. and ideal for use withaccess control systems.

8140, 8141, EL540 and EL541 are suitable for use in exit doors as the door can alwaysbe opened with inside handle.

The locks provide quick and easy use and offer a cost-effective way of electric lockingproviding considerable advantages over i.e. electric strike.

FUNCTION

8140, 8141, EL540, EL5418140 and EL540 are fail locked type locks. They can be operated with outside handlewhen electric control is switched on. When electric control is switched off, outsidehandle has no effect on bolts.

8141 and EL541 are fail unlocked type locks. They can be operated by outside handlewhen electric control is switched off. When electric control is switched on, outsidehandle has no effect on bolts.

8142, 8143, EL542, EL5438142 and EL542 are fail locked type locks which can be operated by outside and insidehandle when electric control is switched on. When electric control is switched off,handles have no effect on bolts.

8143 and EL543 are fail unlocked type locks which can be operated by handles whenelectric control is switched off. When electric control is switched on, handles have noeffect on bolts.

Through mechanical override locks can always be opened with key.

MISCELLANEOUSLEAD COVERS FOR POWER TRANSFER

APPLICATION

The ABLOY® lead cover is designed to ensure the unbroken transfer of cable betweendoor and frame. The maximum diameter of a wire bundle transferable through thelead cover is 7.5 mm.The cable used should consist of several threads for increasedbending strength. If the opening angle of door is more than 120° or the distancebetween pin hinge and door frame is more than 20 mm,lead cover 8811 must be used.
