Caprol Polyglycerol Esters
Multifunctional Leave-on and Rinse-off ProductsCaprol polyglycerol esters (PGEs) are formed by esterification of fatty acids and select polyglycerols. The type of
fatty acid, polyglycerol, and the degree of esterification determines the functionality of each product in the line.
Caprol PGEs offer a broad HLB range enabling them to easily substitute for ethoxylated nonionics and other
synthetically derived emulsifiers in lotions and creams. Water-in-oil or oil-in-water leave-on creams and lotions
can be partially or completely emulsified with PGEs. In rinse-off products, Caprol PGEs are green, secondary
surfactant alternatives to alkanolamides or ethoxylated nonionics. They provide the rich, creamy foam in
shampoos and body washes, rheology modification, and an unparalleled skin-refatting after feel.
ABITEC’s Caprol PGEs are biodegradable and ideal for Safe and Gentle Personal Care lines.

Caprol Microexpress BlendsCaprol Microexpress blends are made from Caprol polyglycerol esters, Capmul esters, and Acconon
ethoxylated nonionics. ABITEC’s microemulsion technology provides a delivery system for actives,
fragrances, and other water or oil soluble products. Microemulsions are unique in solubilizing
hydrophobic components from a surface, delivering water insoluble ingredients in a practical form,
and increasing the load of actives in a formulation.

• Spontaneously formed without the need for a high input of energy and are therefore easy to prepare
• Thermodynamically stable due to their small particle size

Capmul Lactylates and Mono– and Diglycerides Essential Ingredients for Natural FormulationsThe Capmul line offers ABITEC’s most diverse and multifunctional specialty products. Capmul
mono- and diglycerides are vegetable-based, nonionic emulsifiers prepared by the esterification
of glycerol or propylene glycol with select fatty acids or via glycerolysis of triglycerides.
Capmul lactylates are produced through a condensation reaction of select fatty acids and lactylates.
Distilled Capmul monoesters and select lactylate technology can be utilized as an alternative or
replacement for preservative agents.
Capmul esters are multifunctional ingredients used in creams, lotions, and cosmetic products as
emulsifiers and solubilizers. Capmul lactylates can also be used as primary emulsifiers in creams and
lotions, and act as bulking agents to the final formulation. These Capmul products also function as
secondary surfactants and viscosity increasing agents in rinse-off products.
All Capmul products provide a light silky-smooth and non-greasy feel on skin.

Captex Esters Captex esters are prepared from fractionated vegetable oil fatty acids, glycerol or other glycols.
These natural emollients are Kosher, cGMP, food grade and vegetable-based. Several of these products
are allowed under Ecocert guidelines in formulations. In addition, several Captex esters use ZemeaTM
propanediol as a substitute for the more traditional propylene glycol formulations. Zemea propanediol
is a colorless and highly pure glycol derived from a sustainable and renewable corn sugar fermentation
process.
Captex esters have been specifically designed to offer a diverse range of skin feels, emolliency and
occlusion to your final lotion, cream or cosmetic formulations. The Captex product line provides rub
in and after feels that are aesthetically appealing and elegant, without tack or greasiness. They can be
used in a wide range of products acting as emollients, solvents, fixatives, solubilizers, and extenders
or carriers.

Acconon Ethoxylated Nonionics Acconon products represent a wide range of low irritation, water soluble surfactants that can function in anionic,
cationic or neutrally charged formulations. The water and oil solubility is varied by alkoxylation of carefully
selected natural raw materials including glycerides, esters, alcohols, or fatty acids.
Acconon nonionics are often employed in baby or dermatological products for sensitive skin or mild personal
care formulations. In rinse-off products they can act as foam boosters, secondary surfactants, and skin refatting
agents. They can also be used to solubilize actives into a formulation.
Acconon products can provide a gentle low irritation skin care product.

Accoquat Cationics ABITEC Accoquat products are quaternized vegetable amines with hydrophilicity provided by
ethoxylation. They are electrostatically attracted to the damaged sites on hair and are resistant to
rinse-off. Accoquat cationics are typically used in hair conditioners or sprays to add softness and
reduce static, and as a basis for cationic microemulsions.

Specialty Oils/Bases ABITEC offers many vegetable based replacements for traditional personal care products that may not
fit into green, renewable resource product lines. ABI-LatumTM SC is a vegetable-based substitute for
petrolatum and ABI-LinTM is a natural-based substitute for lanolin.
Hydro~Kote® products are prepared from natural vegetable oils that are refined, hydrogenated,
blended, and then deodorized. Some of these products are used as replacements for cocoa butter
where their texture and narrow melting range characteristics are essential. Their low irritation and
excellent spreadability, make Hydro~Kote products the ideal choice in lipstick, solid fragrances,
antiperspirant sticks, emollient creams, and lotions.
Sterotex® products are finely divided food grade vegetable powders that can act a lubricants, bulking
agents and binders. They can also be used either alone or in conjunction with other hard waxes to alter
the hardness and texture of lipsticks and other stick formulations.
