The second system, installed in the recently refurbished North stand of the 26,000 capacity stadium, follows the success of the first screen installed in 2005. After Ajax and PSV, Heerenveen is the only the third club in Dutch professional football to have giant-size video screens installed in its stadium. Heerenveen was the first Diamond Vision stadium installation in the Netherlands THE SOLUTION The two screens are Diamond Vision AVL-OD12 screens with 12mm Dot Pitch, wide viewing angles and a brightness of 5000 Nits. Mitsubishi's unique Dynamic Pixel Technology and Digital Colour Space Conversion combined with the 12mm dot pitch gives superb image quality, and Diamond Vision's legendary reliability ensures low cost of ownership. Mitsubishi's engineering team worked closely with the resident architects and stadium owners to design the custom housing and support structure that allows the OD12 to be suspended directly from the roof. “The advantage of the Mitsubishi LED screens,” explains Diamond Vision's Cees-Jan Faber, ”Is not just their high quality, but also the relatively low weight. That is an important factor when mounting such a large screen to the roof.” “We received several proposals and eventually made our decision in favour of Diamond Vision”, says Henk Hoekstra of Sportclub Heerenveen. “With these screens,” he continues, ”Visitors not only have an excellent view of all the action as it is happening but also the latest information. These screens allow us to further improve our service to our visitors”. Cees-Jan Faber adds: “Along with the screens, we have also developed specialist software for use in football stadiums. This software allows to show information and entertainment together with live coverage of the match.” Abe Lenstra Stadium, Heerenveen
