Tiger and Smart are very intelligentdetectives...(no,             really!) Inspector Tiger finds out who the murderer is               after careful deduction and by playing The truth             game, can you tell us how she came  to her conclusions?

A Why were the following suspects absolved?

Mr. Ascher:recieves money from her, so why would hekillher? If

she dies, he would have  stopped getting it.The first letter the murderer sends says, Our poor               British police.He is German, so he wouldnt use that term.He is a heavy drinker and so wouldnt have the mental                   agility to pepare such a cunning plan.

Don Barnard:being jealous of her unfaithfull girlfirend could be

motive, but the letters show premeditation.Crimes of jealousy are usually spontaneous and a             persons judgement of a situation can be badly affected.

Megan Barnard:she didnt like her sister because she was envious of

Page 4: ABCMurders-Absolutionandcondemnation-2

her many boyfriends but envy is not a strong enough                 emotion to motivate a person to kill her sister.

Lady Clarke:is about to die and in very bad health.Killing her husband with a heavy blow to the head

required lots of physical strength.

Miss Grey:was very grateful of him and also ..why would she kill                   her possible future husband?

BHowdidInspectorTigerknowthatMr.Custwasntthe                   murderer?

When she saw Mr. Cust she knew he was not guilty for                     three reasons.

1. Such a plan required intelligence, and he is a                 simple man.2. Mrs.Barnardcrime.Shewasabeautifulgirlandshe                went on a date with a man to the beach. C HowdidInspectorTigerdeducethatMr.Franklinwas                 the murderer?

● Motive:SirCarmichaelClarkewasarichman. After              deathhiswifeinheritshismoney, andsheisavery                  ill lady, so all the money would then go to his                   brother, Franklin.

● Motive: jealousy, he was infatuated with Miss Grey. When Lady Clarke died, his brother would be likely               to marry Miss Grey, have children and they would               inherit his brother's fortune.

● Mr. Franklin was an intelligent man, whose           attractive physique, could have attracted Mrs.         Barnard!

● Charlotte saw anger in his eyes when Mademoiselle             Grey said she would have married his brother.
