ABC’s of Me Created by Laura Candler

The ABC’s of Me is a mini ABC booklet that

students can complete at the beginning of the year

or any time as a “getting to know you” activity.

To create a booklet, you’ll need two sheets of

paper for each students and the four patterns in this

packet. Duplicate the four pages front to back,

pairing them as shown on the right. Place the two

sheets of paper together, fold them in half, and

check to see if they are in the correct order. Then

staple them together along the fold using a long

reach stapler if possible. Give one booklet to each

student and ask them to decorate the cover with

pictures of some of their favorite things. Provide

time for them to complete the sentence prompts

with information about themselves. Each page has

one empty frame which students can use to draw

an illustration of something related to the sentences

on that page. Be sure to allow class time for sharing

the booklets, or place them in a literacy center

where students can read them later.
