Why cant the automotive industry reuse it?

1. Material is in an odd shapeI. Cant be utilised in other applicationsII. Not cost effective to re-shear

• Defective or Suspect– Mechanicals and Metallurgical properties– Doesn’t press or paint well– Don’t want to risk putting into production

• Difficult to change the steel on the roof of a car• Material is Downgraded• Very strict on quality

• Past its use date• Material is Dented or Scratched• Model changes

– Different material specification required

• Reused not Recycled

• Mild sheet steel produced in a blast furnace has a steel content of between 10-25%.

• The vast majority of products have a recycled content but no higher than 25% in thin gauge steel products.

• Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) - Uses 100% scrap/recycled steel for structural steel.
