Equipment type: ABB DRIVES_ACS800

- It is started by check our stock from the drive control unit (RDCU-12C). We prepare table from installed cards and it was as following:

S.N Item Power section NO. of parallel units

Table (1)

From table (1), we can realize that,

1- We must have six control cards at least in our stock.2- There is a difference between power section unit and drive control unit for some equipment

(red cells).3- For stands only, the device type of the control unit is related to the number of the parallel

power units. 4- The case of red cells, theirs drives don’t work in healthy mode.

Page 2: ABB DRIVES_Drive control unit "RDCU_12-C"

Before starting, we must know how to order the control card from ABB. we must identify the following items:

Card name RDCU-12 CABB code 3AUA0000036521Software type ABXR7220Soft ware code 68250129Device type May be “NONE” or “identified”

Table (2)

- After checking warehouse on-hand amount of the control card we find that:

Eight pieces differ only in the device type.

Device type Quantity in warehouseACS800-104-0125-3 1ACS800-104-0870-3 1ACS800-104-0210-3 1ACS800-104-0105-3 1ACS800-104-1160-3 1NONE 3

Total =8 pieces

Table (3)

From table (3), we can realize:

1-we don’t have the card with device type” ACS800-104-1740-7”.

2-we have ‘’3’’ cards with device type “NONE”.

SO the first task was to configure the card with device type “NONE” to be” ACS800-104-1740-7”.

- The sequence was as following:

1-Create new backup file (.BPG file) for the installed control card with device type” ACS800-104-1740-7”.

***NOTE***

(.BPG file) is used to change the inverter type ‘’Parameter 4.09’’ from <<None>> to the required one.

“DEVICE TYPE” indicates the matching of converter hardware.

Fig (1)

2-Select save as item to save the backup file in determined path:

Fig (2)

3-Disconnect the installed control card (firstly power off the panel), then install the spare RDCU card with device type “NONE”.

4-Power on the panel, then connect the Drive Window program to the spare RDCU card through Fiber Optic cable.

5-restore the backup file as following:

A-Open existing backup

Page 4: ABB DRIVES_Drive control unit "RDCU_12-C"

Fig (3)

B-Select the required backup file

Fig (4)

C-Select restore:

D- The drive window program will search on backup files.

E-When select drive window appears select required backup file.

Fig (7)

F-By clicking on the required backup file the window of restore drive xxxxxxx from will appears.

Fig (8)

G-wait till restoring the backup step executed.

Fig (9)

6-Open parameter item and check that the device type of the RDCU is changed from NONE to the required one ,as following notice the marked item on the next figure.

Fig (10)

- After these steps the first task is completely done.

So, the second task”is it possible to make the control card RDCU over writable” ????

On another hand, can download another backup file on a control card have already one?

The answer is in the following sequence:

Assume we want to download a backup file of stand#17 on the control card of stand#18

So we want to change the device type of the RDCU card of stand#18

Fig(11)

So we want to change inveter type parmeter from NR 1740_7 to NR 1160_7.

All the procedure is done in online mode

1-Download the parameters (.dwp) of stand#17 on stand#18.

2-Download the backup file (.bpg) of stand#17 on stand#18.

3-Download the parameters (.dwp) of stand#18 on stand#18.

After that check parameter 4.09 and you will find that the inverter type changes from NR 1740_7 to NR 1160_7.

***so the conclusion from this steps is the control card of the drive can be over writable

- The technical gains from the pervious report are :

1- How to configure the ‘’device type’’ for drive control board (RDCU-12C) , which is the direct link to the hardware type.

2- Make use of the the sapre (RDCU-12C) boards on the warehouse to be over-writtable and can be used at any drive board on the two bar mills, so we can minimize the money package to provide drive control boards dedicated to each ‘’drive device types’’.
