♦ Need Clarification as to what is needed for Design Control?
♦ 2.24.1 The contractor shall establish and maintain documented procedures to control and verify the design and development planning of the product in order to ensure that the specified requirements are met. Where product design, redesign, or modifications are not usually performed, the design procedures must address how adherence to existing design criteria is maintained. The contractor must define the procedure when a design change is required.

♦ “Is it the president of the company?” ●If the organization chart shows that senior management is the
president ▲The terms “Senior Management, Executive Management, and
Management Representative” are used in M-1003. Each company is to define who has responsibility for those functions per the requirements in paragraphs 2.4. These responsibilities can be designated to 1, 2, 3, or many people at the companies choice. Note: the terms above are M-1003 specific, each company can use any term they choose, they just have to define who has the responsibility:
● 2.4.1.4 contains the requirement for defining the responsibility… ● 2.4.2 management representative has responsibility, organization
freedom and authority… ● 2.3.3 Senior management – approves the manual ● 2.4.4 Management holding executive responsibility does management
review.

♦ Interpretation: 2.5.2.5 “Define or refer to sampling plans and statistical process control, including the criteria for selection, if proposed, and indicate where they will be used.”
♦ The intent of the specification, if they are using a sample plan for incoming material, it must be documented. If they are not using one it is OK. It should be noted that 100% inbound inspection is considered a sample plan and must be documented.”
