AANIIIH NAKODA COLLEGE NURSE ASSISTANT AND COMPETENCY EVALUATION TRAINING The goal of the CNA training course is to prepare students to provide high quality assistive care that respects and honors individual, cultural and community needs. The course will provide clinical and practical instruction for basic nursing skills required of nursing assistants employed in skilled nursing facilities and extended care facilities. Emphasis will be placed on the care of older and disabled individuals, as well as assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, exercise movement, eating, and elimination. Students completing the course will be required to demonstrate proficiency in achieving a series of identified student learning outcomes. Aaniiih Nakoda College schedules Nurse Assistant and Competency Evaluation Training Program classes at least two times a year. Interested students can inquire and pick up an application from the college registrar, Tribal Health or Returning Buffalo Nursing Office.

CLASSES

Classes will be held in Returning

Buffalo on the Aaniiih Nakoda

Campus with clinicals at Sweet Long

Term Care Center in Chinook.

Classes will begin promptly at 8:00

AM and conclude at 5:00 PM.

Students will have a 45 minute lunch

period with 15 minute breaks in the

morning and afternoon. The state

requires 75 hours of classroom and

clinical instruction and students

admitted to the class must agree to

attend every day. If you miss one

day, you will be asked to leave the

class.

ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY IF

YOU ARE ACCEPTED. Registration

is required so contact the Registrar’s

office and pick up an application

today. It is first come first served.

PREVIOUSLY CERTIFIED

If you were previously a certified nursing

assistant and your certification lapsed, you can

challenge the exam for as little as $97.00. The

only catch is — if you fail the exam, you will need

to retake the 75 hour training to be eligible to

retest. You will need to complete a registration

form which can be picked up at Returning

Buffalo Nursing Office. You can also register on

line with a credit card at: [email protected].

(SEEDS) grant “Caring for our Own”

and the Montana Registered

Apprenticeship grant through the

Montana Department of labor and

Industry.

Wanted students

interested in

becoming certified

nursing assistants There is currently an urgent need for

certified nursing assistants in

Montana. Please contact us if you are

interested in being trained to become

a certified nursing assistant. You

must be 16 years of age and older,

have a GED or high school diploma.

Certified Nursing assistants can earn

anywhere from $9.00 per hour to

$12.00 per hour. Tuition and fees for

this class have been waived.

Course materials will be

provided. You will need to have

a watch with a second hand and

wear scrubs, and non-slip

shoes.
