The shea butter origin and the shea butter unsaponifiables contribute to the mildness and irritation reducing ability of this betaine. It is also free from PEG and ethoxylates. Lipex ® Shea Betaine, when formulated in a typical shampoo formulation, gives higher viscosity and more creamy texture to the formulation compared to a typical coconut based betaine. It has a high substantivity to skin and hair, giving good anti-static and conditioning effects in combination with the cleansing properties. ApplicationsLipex® Shea Betaine is a primary surfactant for shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps and other cleansing products. Due to its mildness it is especially suited for baby care products, facial cleansers and other products for sensitive skin. It is normally used in combination with anionic surfactants replacing other amphoterics but it works also well in mixtures with the traditional betaines. Lipex® Shea Betaine gives slightly hazy formulations due to the unsaponifiable content so it works best in translucent or opaque formulations.
