Master of Arts in Art EducationTo accommodate the schedule of working teachers, MAAE courses and studio work are conducted during the summer. The degree requires 33 credits and can be completed in three to five summers. The MAAE program gives teachers an opportunity to break old habits, try new solutions, and reinvigorate their art and their classroom practice. Built around an intensive, personalized studio experience, the MAAE challenges partici-pants to get outside their comfort zone and generate fresh ideas for themselves and their students. You’ll learn new ways to make art and, just as important, new ways of relating as a teacher.

1-Credit Graduate Courses for EducatorsOne-Credit Graduate intensives are offered through the Art Academy of Cincinnati’s Master of Arts in Art Education program. Generally held on weekends, the program offers working teachers one graduate credit through a two-day (16 hours) intensive. Requirement: A Bachelor’s degree with studio experience.

Community Education CEU’sOHIO Ohio Revised Code (Section 3319.22) assigns Local Professional Development Committees (LPDC) the responsibility of reviewing educators’ Professional Develop-ment (PD) activities as part of their Individual Professional Development Plans (IPDP) and determining if they meet licensure renewal requirements. Participants are supplied with a statement of contact hour verification, which educators in turn provide to their LP-DCs. A CEU is comprised of 10 professional development (PD) contact hours approved by a Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC). Be sure to follow local procedures for PD pre-approval established by your LPDC.

KENTUCKY Professional Development (PD) is defined in 704 KAR 3:035 Section (2) as “those experiences which systematically over a sustained period of time, enable educators to acquire and apply knowledge, understand-ing, skills, and abilities to achieve personal, professional, and organizational goals and to facilitate the learning of students.” KRS 158.070 requires four (4) days of the mini-mum school term to be used for PD activities for the building level professional staff.

Individual districts are responsible for determining if a professional development opportunity is eligible for credit.
