Transcript of A2 media, lighting sound and editing research
Lighting• High Key – This type of lighting is bright and
relatively low in contrast.• Low Key – This contains predominately dark tones
and colours. • Colour FX – This can include cold or blueish
lighting (which connotes a creepy, spooky atmosphere).
Sound• Diegetic – This is sound that originates from the
digesis. For example, footsteps and cars.• Non-Diegetic – This is sound that doesn’t
originate from the digesis, for example, it may be a voice over or a soundtrack which is made elsewhere and added to the piece after it has been filmed.
• Sound Bridge – This is two or more scenes that are linked together via sound.
• Sound Effects – Sound that is added over something, however it is not dialogue or music.
Editing• Continuity – Most films/TV programmes etc follow
this style of editing as it enables a constant flow for the narrative. This creates a believable and natural story line.
• Montage – This is the opposite to continuity. This is because the editing/cuts are normally noticeable and do not create a sense of fluidity.
• Cut – One image is replaced by another.• Cross Dissolve – Where one image dissolves into
another.• Fade Up – An image fades up from a black screen• Fade Out – The opposite, an image fades out,
revealing a black screen
