UseMusic Video

- Titles

- We filmed Luke spray painting the band name onto a wall, we liked this idea as it was very creative and individual.

DevelopMusic Video

- We used advanced editing with this superimposition. - Music videos tend to use static camera angles and simple cut transitions.- We did this to show the effect of a flashback.

DevelopMagazine Advertisement

When developing our magazine advertisement it came clear that we wanted to keep the same colour scheme (black & white) all the way through for continuity and house style. We studied other magazine advertisements in our genre and most of them didn’t have the singer/band on the front cover it was mostly their band logo or just a random graphic so we decided to mix it up and maybe make it our USP by having the lead singer as the main image.

DevelopDigipak

We found out that Digipak’s that keep the same theme throughout the product seemed to be more successful so we decided to follow that trend and keep the same theme all the way through. We also thought that we would keep the brick wall theme because the indie genre was created from street busking.

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Page 13: A2 Media Evaluation

Record labelWe made sure that the record label that we had chosen would be on all media texts. The record label is on the back of the CD/DVD Digipak, bottom of our magazine advertisement and at the beginning of our music video. We did this so that it the audience is aware of what institution we are with.

LocationIn all of our products we decided that we will give it an urban feeling by incorporating a lot of bricks in all the products. In our music video we have our lead singer spray painting a brick wall. Our magazine advertisement has a picture of our lead sitting at a wall. And lastly our CD/DVD Digipak has the theme of brick walls. We thought of the brick walls because the indie genre was created by street busking so it relates to the bricks.

FontsAn iconic font was needed for our band so that the audience will be able to know what is our band products. We have gone with a gothic, 1930`s look with the flicks at the end of the writing. We tried to keep this font in all our products so that the audience will know that’s our CD/DVD Digipak because of the same font as our magazine advertisement.

What have you learnt from your audience

feedback?

Page 17: A2 Media Evaluation

By these questions we realised that people preferred a male vocalist which is why we chose a song sang by a male artist.

Another question asked was whether our audience if they prefer songs that tell stories, their answer was yes so we decided throughout our music video to tell a story to match the lyrics of the song.

Original Questionnai

Page 18: A2 Media Evaluation

Audience Feedback We printed off two questions onto a sheet of paper

and handed them out to a variety of people. We believed that having a variety of people answer the questions gives us a wider variety of critique. Below is one persons answer to our questions.

These questions were asked

after our first draft.

Page 19: A2 Media Evaluation

Audience Feedback This is another example of our questionnaire being

answered. After our first draft had been made. We thought it would be a good idea for our peers and potential audience to watch our vide to give us their opinions on what they liked and what they believe could be improved.

How did you use media technologies in the construction and

research, planning and evaluation stages?

Page 21: A2 Media Evaluation

ConstructionFinal Cut

We used final cut to construct our final product (music video), we uploaded various clips from the video camera and inserted them into the software. We were then allowed to cut, superimpose and insert many transitions to our music video.

Page 22: A2 Media Evaluation

ConstructionLive Type

Live type is a software that allows us to create and insert certain titles our video. This is useful to us because then we are allowed to follow a desired theme throughout or music so it seems to link with the video.

Page 23: A2 Media Evaluation

ConstructionPhotoshop

We used Photoshop to create our magazine and CD/DVD digipak. This allowed us to make the products seem more authentic and professional. The software gave us greater tools such as cropping, colour balance and many more.

Page 24: A2 Media Evaluation

ConstructionDigital Camera

The digital camera was used to film our music video. We had to improvise to get certain shots such as: panning shots and handheld shots seeing as we didn’t have the appropriate equipment.

Page 25: A2 Media Evaluation

ResearchGoogle/Google images

We used Google images to search stereotypical clothing within our genre and trends that we should follow to allow people to know what genre we are in. Another aspect that we researched were the current events that are happening in the news this is so that we could link our music video with the ongoing news.

Page 26: A2 Media Evaluation

ResearchYouTube

YouTube was a useful source when deciding what genre to choose. We looked at music videos from all different genres to see what was most popular. We decided to go against the most popular genre to try and be a success in a new genre.

Page 27: A2 Media Evaluation

PlanningBlogSpot

BlogSpot is a blogging website which allowed us to put work into our digital portfolio. We used BlogSpot for our planning by uploading such things as drawings and storyboards that we later used to create our final products.

Page 28: A2 Media Evaluation

PlanningMicrosoft Publisher

Microsoft publisher is just like Photoshop but with less tools. We used Publisher to create our drafts. This gave us a basic viewing of how we want our written products to be finalised.
