Decided which coursework I will be producing – a TV Documentary. Also decided who I would be working with – Chloe.

Decide what type of TV Documentary we are going to make and also make a start on collecting research to evaluate.

Decided with Chloe to do a TV documentary covering Martial Arts as I have trained in it for 10 years. I also collected three articles from TV listing magazines discussing documentaries that I could evaluate for my research and scanned them into the computer. I then started to work on evaluating the first article.

Completed the Ancillary 1 draft by adding more detail of what goes where and I finally placed where the page numbers will go. I then saved the final piece as a JPEG image so it would be easier to upload to Blogger.

Collect images of newspaper documentary advertisement, scan them through to the computer and start to evaluate them.

Collected the three newspaper documentary advertisements and scanned them through to my computer. The evaluation of the first newspaper advertisement has been completed and the evaluation of the second one has been started.

Complete the evaluations of the second newspaper documentary advertisements and make a start on the third piece of it. Also place all research into two power points to make it easier to upload to Blogger later.

newspaper documentary advertisements have been completed in Word. Ancillary 1 research has been placed in one power point and Ancillary 2 research has been placed in another by saving the original Word documents as images and placing them into the power point – this will make it easier to upload them all to Blogger later.

Start and attempt to finish the Ancillary 2 draft design layout on Photoshop and save image as a JPEG file.

Started the Ancillary 2 draft of designing the layout of the newspaper advertisement on Photoshop and then saved it as a JPEG image to make it easier to upload to Blogger later.

Began to compile my Lacey’s repertoire of Elements to documentaries and started to analyse 24 Hours in A&E.

Start a production mind map for our documentary.

Started and completed the documentary mind map with Chloe. We included information such as mise en scene, camera work, editing and content.

Produce a typed up version of the documentary mind map.

Started and completed the production word document with the final ideas for the documentary with Chloe.

Begin second Lacey’s Repertoire of Elements for documentary work.

Finished off the second Lacey’s Repertoire of Elements table. Started to watch the 10 minute clip of the third documentary and started to fill out the third table for it.

Finish off the third Lacey’s Repertoire of Elements table. Start working on writing the script up for the documentary.

Finished my final Lacey’s Repertoire of Elements. Began to produce a script for the documentary.

Carry on scriptwriting using the Celtx software. Start work on the Market Research by creating a Survey Monkey account and building up a questionnaire to send out to people.

Went out on location to the Martial Arts club, shot and audio recorded the interview with Russ and also do a few shots of the training room and also the establishing shots of the inside of the building using the Nikon D3100, a tripod and also the microphone. The clips recorded were then put on the computer and reviewed, then named accordingly and placed into Adobe Premier.

Go back to the Martial Arts club to do more filming of the classes and some self-defence techniques performed by Russ. Download, review and name them.

Went back out on location to the Martial Arts club, used the Nikon D3100, tripod and microphone again to record Russ teaching his class and also record him performing some self-defence techniques with a student. The clips were uploaded to the computer, reviewed and named accordingly.

Chose the first couple of establishing shots and edited them (Cutting them down etc.)

Carried on editing our documentary on Adobe Premiere, began to edit the introduction of the documentary.

Carry on editing and possibly look at going back to the gym to take more photos for the ancillaries and recording vox pops of the students.

Carried on editing the documentary, started to edit the action shots of Russ and Rhys, cut down the clips and added transitional effects to them.

Continued to edit on Adobe Premiere. Started on the interview questions, deleted the audio from the camera and matched up the video with the externally recorded audio.

Continue to edit, record the narration of the documentary in the radio boot. Film final parts back at the martial arts club.

Imported the new clips that were shot on Monday. Also continued to edit the new clips into the documentary and search for music on Vimeo that we can use in our coursework.

Sort out audio for narration part and also come to a decision as to what will go before and after the interview.

Recorded the narration parts of the documentary in the radio studio, nearly finished with the editing now, few final bits to finalise.

documentary . After recording this we saved it to a pen drive and then added the files to the Adobe Premier project. Chloe then cut down the files and added them to their relevant places in the documentary and made sure the volume of them was right and could be heard above the background music. We then added audio transitions between the interview clips so there was better continuity and sounded professional. The draft edit for the documentary has now been completed. I also began working on my final Ancillary 1 and 2 projects by selecting the images being used for them.

Started and completed my Ancillary 2 task which was to make a newspaper advertisement for the documentary. I used Adobe Photoshop to do this. For the background of the advertisement I used a picture of Russ throwing a punch. I altered the image to look more professional. I also added text over the image which was information about the show.. As well as this I uploaded the first draft edit of our documentary onto YouTube. Before doing this I had to export it out of Adobe Premier and then upload it onto YouTube and added tags and descriptions.

Continue working on my ancillary pieces, especially the double page spread. Write the article for the piece so that it can put in next week.

I wrote up the interview for my Ancillary 2 project. I added it to the Ancillary 2 project on Adobe Photoshop. I altered it to fit into the columns on the page and made the questions in bold. I then saved the file as a JPEG along with the Ancillary 1 file.

Start work on my Evaluation and also upload any remaining documents to Blogger. Create a Facebook focus group for the draft of the documentary.

I created a closed group on Facebook and invited people who had Media knowledge and experience to comment on the first draft of the documentary and answer the following questions: What aspects of the documentary did you like?, What do you think could be improved?, Who do you think the target audience would be for the documentary?, Do you think the camera work and editing are effective and professional?, Do you think our documentary conforms to typical documentary conventions? I also started to work on questions 2 and 4 for my evaluation and created the first draft of them.

Continue to work on questions 2 and 4 by putting them into Prezi and SlideShare to make them look more attractive and have more imagery. Start work on questions 1 and 3 for my evaluation and also the focus group summary. Upload the final draft of the documentary and link this to Blogger.

I put question 4 into Prezi and added images and videos related to it to back up the comments I made. I also started to put question 2 into PowerPoint format. I also had to re-export my documentary from Premier

Due to the final product being the same as the draft because we didn’t want to change anything, YouTube wouldn’t let us re-upload it under another name, so I had to make up an account on Vimeo and upload it onto there to then be linked to Blogger. I also started to work on the focus group summary and other evaluation questions.

I finished putting question 2 & 4 into a Prezi document and uploaded to my blogger account, I also placed a focus group responses into a word document to go along with question 3. Me and Chloe then recorded our response to question 3 using my phone to do so, I then uploaded it to SoundCloud and embedded this on to Blogger.
