PROGRESS UPDATE PLAN FOR NEXT MONTH / WEEK (Including Possible Contingency Plans If Problems Anticipated)

Mon W/B 09/09/13(Detailed Weekly Summary)

We decided that we are going to create a short film for our coursework as we felt we could create something original. We began to create a list of rough ideas that we could possibly make.

We need to begin planning the piece of coursework


We chose to create a featurette using a black and white film because it will be interesting to create a contest between types of shorts as well as between colour and black and white.

We will start to research film posters for our ancillary task.


This week we started to analyse one of the 3 film posters, to get an idea on particular concepts that are included in posters.

Continue analysing the posters and begin planning ancillary task 1.


We began to plan the names of our characters; cast to determine what will appear on the institutional credits, as well as what would appear in the video later on.

We will create a draft for our movie poster.


This week we began to create our draft film poster for ‘The Masterpiece’ as our Ancillary 1 task. Including the institutional credits. A space is left for the image to be taken when filming.

We should finish Ancillary 1 and start the next research task.


We created the logo for our production company as well as others and added final touches to the poster, such as effects on the text, size and positioning.

To begin research for Ancillary 2 the Article.


We looked at film reviews in magazines and chose three clear examples to analyse.

We will create our Ancillary 2 task.

Half Term We will create our layout plans for Ancillary task 2.


We created a layout plan for our Ancillary 2 task. When this was done we researched by looking examples of short films e.g. black and white films and also making sure all of our research was on our blogs.

We will begin to analyse 3 separate short films, which will most likely be featurettes.


I decided on the 3 films I would be analysing, these were the I will continue analysing different short films and


behind the scenes footage of ‘The Artist’, ‘Lincoln’ and ‘About time;

featurettes.


I analysed and wrote about the artist featurette using Lacey’s repertoire of elements. We included ideas for our own featurette.

We will start brainstorming ideas for the video and putting it together on the computer.


We started to create our mind map to generate ideas for particular concepts and features we want in the video. Such as elements of comedy and also the fact that we are inventing a film to create, behind the scenes footage for.

Next week we intend to have our mind map finished and also to start writing out our summary of ideas generation.

We should finish the summary of ideas generation and start to plan our script.


We created a plan for the script and decided on details, such as what the cast members will say and where I the script it will be.

We have planned to write our script in January.

We started to write the script using the plans we had created as well as the characters we had put on the poster.

We will continue to create the script.


This week we continued working on our script and whilst writing we had to think of the best way to film the scenes because we will also be creating story boards.

We need to finish the script off before moving on.


We completed the script and began to read through it and timed it so we know how long the video may be when we add other behind the scenes shots and shots from the film.

We need to continue to read through, check the grammar and spelling and begin to think about locations and filming techniques.


We edited the script and put it into a word document because we had created it in celtex to get the correct layout. We then uploaded it onto Blogger and began discussing the storyboards.

We are going to practice filming with the cameras around college.


We went out around the college and got some practice shots with the cameras as a way of getting used to them and practice.

Collect the responses from the questionnaire and begin analysing the graphs created.

This week I have started to write up my market research analysis, by using the collective data from my survey which have given me qualitative and quantitative data.

This week we carried on with coursework such as product research, we also made sure that we had uploaded finished work to our blogs. We looked at the correct locations for filming.

I will either phone or visit the Salford museum to ask whether I will be able to film at a specific time.


We planned the first week of filming, as I have been told we were able to film in the Salford museum. We need to make sure certain people are available to play particular roles.

Create a Facebook group of people who could potentially take part in the video as the cast. When this is done we should try to go on location and film.


We were not able to film this week as the actors were not available and were not sure whether they would be or not. We continued to plan filming, taking into account the location we know we will be filming at.

Next week we will film the majority of the video on location. Then decide what else needs to be filmed once we review the footage.


We filmed in the museum however only one actor came to be filmed. Also the audio would not work therefore we could not film the interview. We worked around this issue by filming good behind the scenes footage, where I acted as a runner. Also we filmed shots of the movie.

We should look at the footage we got to see what else needs to be filmed.


We named the shots to make editing easier, along with marking those which cannot be used, sometimes due to the issues with the tripod. I also filmed some painting shots myself to create a sequence of the movie ‘The Masterpiece’.

We should begin editing the footage, as well as organising another time to film another character, and their interviews.


I was not allowed to film in the Salford Art Gallery on the day we went therefore it would have to be postponed. However this allowed us to continue editing the footage and consider what else would be needed.

We will try to organise another location shoot at the gallery. If we cannot do this I will film on chapel street as there are many suitable buldings.


I was able to film more shots with another actress on location to form another part of the story. Giving the audience more to see

We have the questions that we need to be thinking about for the evaluation. The interviews are being organised and will be finished to be added to the video within the week.

Finish the interviews and add them to the video, also rearrange the music and the audio clips to suit the short film


The interview with the actress I filmed out of college time and has been added to the video along with the audio for the film. The final interview still needs to be filmed.

Film the final interview and add it to the short film. Also consider the evaluation questions.
