The Beck Isle Museum is housed in a handsome Regency residencenear the centre of Pickering, adjacent to the Pickering Beck, a streamthat flows under a four arched road bridge. One arch of this bridge(originally much narrower) is reputedly of mediaeval origin. Set in the peaceful surroundings of National Park Land is a museum whichis run by a family of enthusiasts, for enthusiasts. The museum specialisesin vehicles dating from 1918 through to 1976 a period which many visitorswill be able to remember. Many of the vintage cars and motorcycles in themuseum have been lovingly restored and brought back into full workingorder. This is done within the museum’s workshop and when under wayvisitors can call at the viewing area and see just how it’s done. Therestoration of vehicles is not just limited to the museum exhibits.
