ANNUAL REPORT 2019 02/03

Dear Friends,

As we reflect on 2020, words such as challenging, uncertainty, and worry certainly jump to mind immediately. However, as we think about our community, words like kindness, generosity, and dedication soar to the front ofour memories. The Elliot and The Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation have both been tested in many ways in2020, but the philanthropic spirit of donors and community along with the creativity and thoughtful resolve of ourstaff have proven that no challenge is too great and that the needs of patients will always be met with care andcompassion. We started 2020 with the launch of the community giving phase of the Hope is Here Campaign for the expansionof cancer services at The Elliot. On January 30th (1/30), symbolic of our 130th year of caring for the health of greaterManchester, we gratefully announced the transformational gift from Kenneth and Grace Solinsky, which namedthe new cancer center as The Solinsky Center for Cancer Care at The Elliot. Their dedication to ensuring thehighest quality and most comprehensive cancer care is available in southern New Hampshire is truly exceptional. Under the outstanding leadership of Ellie Cochran and Charlie Goodwin, Co-Chairs of the Hope is Here CampaignCommittee, we moved into summer, continually humbled and grateful to the many individuals, families, foundations and corporate partners who stepped forward to bring hope to all those facing cancer in ourcommunity. We are moved that so many of these gifts are made in memory and honor of loved ones and friendswho have faced cancer. Robert Singer and his family remember his son Jordan with their leadership gift as didMark Aquilino and his family who celebrated his mother with their donation. The outstanding clinical careprovided at the new Solinsky Center for Cancer Care is a legacy for those who helped to bring more than $12.6M to the Campaign and helped to open the doors to this magnificent center.

As the campaign successfully continued, the Foundation team immediately pivoted in March to help support TheElliot and our clinical staff as we faced COVID-19. They coordinated donations of Personal Protective Equipment(PPE), over 10,000 homemade masks, care packages and meals to boost the morale of our frontline teams, andraised nearly $250,000 for the COVID-19 response efforts at The Elliot. They channeled creativity and ingenuity inthe face of one of the hardest times for nonprofit organizations. The staff will tell you, however, that it is ourcommunity that brought forth the spirit of philanthropy and for that, they are immensely grateful. Despite the challenges we have faced since March, it has been one of the most successful years for philanthropyat The Elliot, raising nearly $5.7M in FY20 (July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020). While we certainly missed gatheringtogether at our Signature events in 2020, we are optimistically planning for all the events in 2021, withcontingencies as COVID-19 continues to be with us. Please stay tuned for updates and exciting new programsfrom the Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation. On behalf of the entire Elliot community, our board, and leadership; we offer our deepest gratitude to you, ourphilanthropic heroes, because you help us to Inspire, Heal and Serve our community each day.   With gratitude,

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT ANDCHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD

In response to statewide efforts to care for patients and to inspire andpromote the impact of individual and corporate gifts, the Front Lines NHcampaign was launched in April, 2020. The Solinsky Center for Cancer at The Elliot officially opened its doors to patients in Augustof 2020. Made possible by more nearly $12.7 mill ion in donations to the Hope is Herecampaign, the Center builds on The Elliot’s long history of providing patient-focused care.Patients will find the full spectrum of cancer care services, including radiation oncology, medical oncology, and support services, all in one convenient location thanks to thegenerosity of the greater Manchester community.

The new Cancer Center, named for Ken and Grace Solinsky, was supported by their transformational gift of support for the project. Always devoted to enhancing the health and wellbeing of their employees, the Solinskys have been donors to Elliot Health System for many years and are true champions of philanthropy in the greater Manchester community. Their understanding of the importance of high-quality, compassionate, and technologically advancedcare, has helped to make the Cancer Center a reality.

The new Solinsky Center for Cancer Care boasts two Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators that allow for more accurate and focused radiation treatments, as well as medical oncology. In the new space, New Hampshire Oncology-Hematology has 12 heated infusion chairs in a room overlooking a garden space.

At the Solinsky Center for Cancer Care, patients will find everything they need in their journey through cancer, including access to clinical trials, specialized support services like disease-specific nurse navigators, social services, nutrition, pastoral care, rehabilitation therapy, integrative medicine and collaboration with community and palliative care services, as well as connectionsto visiting nurses and hospice care. There is even a meditation room for patients and theirfamily members to relax, made possible through the Aquilino Family Foundation. The cancercare clinicians are committed to treating the patient as a whole, not just the disease.

We are grateful to Robert Singer and the Singer family for theirleadership support of the Hope is Here Campaign. What is mostinspir ing about this gift is the heartfelt story behind why Robertstepped forward in support of this cr it ical ly needed project. We arehonored to be part of the remembrance and legacy of Jordan Singerand for our connection to Robert and his family. Robert shares hisperspective on why the expansion of cancer services at The El l iot isso important.

“Like a lmost everyone nowadays, I 've beendeeply affected by cancer . My father d ied of k idney cancer , my s ister- in- law died of leukemia at 29, and my youngest son, Jordan, who was only 28, d ied of sarcoma with h is fu l l l i fe ahead of h im.

I don't want a future where people are robbed of their parents , s ib l ings and chi ldrentoo soon. I 'm not naive enough to th ink th is donat ion wi l l automatical ly cure cancer , but I know that every dol lar br ings us c loser to winning th is war . I a lso know that people in New Hampshire deserve asgood of care as people anywhere e lse in the wor ld .

These dol lars and th is new cancer center wi l lsave l ives – there's no quest ion. Of equalimportance, i t a lso gets us c loser to a wor ldwhere a l l future Jordans can overcome sarcomaand get to l ive another s ix or seven decades. Ibel ieve in The El l iot and I bel ieve in the doctorsworking on cancer 's eradicat ion, and i f we a l l doour part , I bel ieve a future without cancer isc loser than we th ink . My hope is that th is g iftinspires others to a lso give, so that future arr ivesas soon as poss ib le . ”

ANNUAL REPORT 2019 02/03

Three years ago, Elliot Health System and Southern New Hampshire Health founded SolutionHealth, a non-profit,integrated health system dedicated to providing access to high-value primary and specialty care that meets thegrowing needs of the communities we serve. Together, we are committed to innovative models of care andcollaboration that improve the health and well-being of more than half a million residents of our region. This collaboration has worked to our advantage as we addressed the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic thispast year, caring for nearly half of the state’s hospitalized COVID-19 patients. Our clinicians and staff have led theway, continuing to care for our community while facing their own personal fears. Both Southern and The Elliot participated in a nation-wide clinical trial with the Mayo Clinic to study the effects ofconvalescent plasma treatment on COVID-19 patients. For one patient in the ICU at Southern, the treatment mayhave saved his life. Diagnosed with COVID-19, the patient was placed on a ventilator almost immediately.Desperate to save his life, his care team turned to convalescent plasma. The treatment was seemingly effective, and his health took a dramatic turn for the better.

After a long and hard year, we have found a source of hope for a way out of this pandemic. On December 15, at aspecial event hosted by New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu at Elliot Hospital, Heidi Kukla, BSN, RN, from TheElliot’s ICU became the first healthcare worker in New Hampshire to be vaccinated against COVID-19. As we look to the future, we as a system are working together to create a new model for high-quality, value-basedcare to serve our communities. Whether you are have complex health issues such as a cancer diagnosis and aresearching for world-class care, or you are looking to take charge of your health and find a convenient, excellentprimary care doctor, we are here for you!

WE ARE ADVOCATES. WE ARE CAREGIVERS.WE ARE THOUGHT LEADERS. WE ARE GOOD STEWARDS.

WE ARE COLLABORATORS.

WE ARE
