Title: T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® INDIANA Professional Development Advisor I

Primary Role: Serve as a professional development advisor for scholarship recipients within an assigned Indiana service area. Review applicant information and process according to program requirements and guidelines, manage and maintain recipient and sponsor records, recruit eligible recipients and sponsors, provide information and advise clients on accessing and completing the available scholarship(s).

Position status: Full Time/Non-exempt position

Report To: T.E.A.C.H. Senior Director

Qualifications:1. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Child Development

Job Responsibilities:1. Support the professional development of: Licensed Child Care Center, Family Home,

Registered Ministry, Paths to Quality Providers, and Staff, and Career and Technical High School Students.

2. Present scholarship programs to child care centers, owners, community colleges, teachers, family child care providers and related-service agencies.

3. Recruit candidates for the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® INDIANA through engaging with recipients, sponsors, participating colleges and universities, and key stakeholders in a dialogue about education and compensation initiatives

4. Provide scholarships to a diverse array of early care and education providers within the state that reflect:

5. The prevalence of racial and ethnic diversity of the provider or child population; and either the organizational auspices of early childhood centers and family child care homes; or the geographic distribution of the workforce or children birth – 5 across the state.

6. Introduce and track recruitment of participants from within assigned service area by mail, phone and other methods of outreach including presentations to early childhood classes and conferences.

7. Develop relationships with the existing technical and community colleges within the state.

8. Stay abreast with the Child Development Associate (CDA), Associate degree academic tracks , Child Care Block Grant Training requirements, and Licensing and Path to QUALITY™ professional development standards.

9. Explain program practices, policies and procedures to recipients and sponsors as needed.

10. Assure that the Early Childhood Chair and the finance officer at the community colleges have the list of T.E.A.C.H. recipients approved for scholarships each term.

11. Attend colleges conferences as instructed. 12. Review applications and make awards after consulting with the T.E.A.C.H.13. Assistant Director.14. Facilitate communication between the scholarship recipients and the participating two-

year programs.15. Provide individual professional development counseling and guidance to T.E.A.C.H.

scholarship recipients and document in the T.E.A.C.H. database to be monitored through the T.E.A.C.H. license.

16. Establish ongoing communication with recipients and sponsors. All records should indicate robust counseling is taking place.

17. Use the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® database as the mechanism to operationalize, collect and analyze data on the program, its participants, outputs and outcomes (wages, turnover, etc.).

18. Track all wage progresses and recipients notifications. 19. Authorize charge approvals for community college tuition.20. Track and process recipient reimbursements.21. Gather necessary data and information for reporting purposes.22. Enter applicant and child care program information into database, update as need and

verify accuracy on a regular basis.23. Treat information on Indiana Association for the Education of Young Children clients

(individual people and organization), staff and Board members in confidential manner.24. Perform other tasks as deemed appropriate by the Senior Director of T.E.A.C.H. Early

Childhood® INDIANA project.
